What type of coaxial cable should I have running from my room wall to my Com cast basic HD box?

Q. I have a Com cast basic HD set top box(don't know what they call it that) and I have an Insignia advanced serious 32 inch 1080 p LCD HDTV,120HZ(model number ns-l32x-10a)

and I also have an HDMI cord running from the back of the box into HDMI 3 on my TV.
Right now the cable from my old digital box is connected to my TV and to the wall

A. RG-6 coaxial cable should work fine. If you want, you can try a higher-quality RG-11 coaxial cable (such as Monster), but the price is significantly higher and probably won't yield any better results, unless you have a lot of fluorescent lights around your house or something else causing lots of RF interference. Most important thing to do is to make sure that the connectors are screwed on tightly to both the wall outlet and the cable box.

why watching DVD movie on HDTV not full screen?
Q. I have Samsung 46" HDTV 120hz. Every time I'm watching DVD movies, the picture 16:9 is so small (not full screen) When I zoom it, some of titles are cut. Please help.
I figured out by changing the setup on my panasonic upscalling dvd player. The viewing not full screen but good size of 16:9 widescreen.

A. First of all you must setup the DVD output format, this is done when no disc is in the player and using the menu buttons to navigate through the pages of menus.
Secondly you must realize that Hollywood doesn't make movies in 16x9 formats. They actually use many different size ratios dependent upon what feel they are going for. The TV manufacturers decided upon 16x9 because movies rarely ever go above this ratio for the vertical height. So TV broadcasters and made for tv movies will usually fill your screen if in HD, normally your movies will have a black bar on the top and bottom. The size of these bars are dependent upon the movie. Also make sure you are watching widescreen versions of the movie.

Whats the best hdmi cable to use for cable box to tv?
Q. I just bought a new hdtv, 120hz Mitsubishi and my cable picture isnt that good, i had cable company repair cable and im receiving perfect signal to my cable box but my picture still not that good, is there a particular brand or style of hdmi cable i need?

A. Since you have a cable box and it has an hdmi slot/cable then im sure it is hddct.I would think either the settings on the tv are way off or your cable box is not set to output hd or your not on the hd channels.I work for mediacom and just like comcast we have just a section for hd in the 702-793 channel set.All other ch are still sd.I have dish network and have the option for only hd to be shown.Depending on the cable box you can try to hit the cable button on remote then power then menu and you can go from there and check settings.I can guarantee that signal is not the issue as with digital/hd low signal will pixilate or no pic at all.

What form of blu ray player should i get?

Q. I just bought a 55" HDTV 1080p 120HZ LED tv and now want blu ray. I have it next to my desktop tower. If I get an internal blu ray drive player in my desktop tower and my monitor comes with a HDMI port which i can connect to the tv will the quality of picture be different? Or would a regular blu ray player be better?

A. You can go either way (assuming your computer is capable of handling blu-ray ... check the requirements ... the graphic card must be fast enough, for example). However if you go with the built in computer drive note you can't expect to "connect (the monitor) to the TV". Why? The TV and the monitor are display devices. The blu-ray player is a source device. You can only connect a display to a source.

A stand alone player will offer other capability beside just playing Blu-ray disks (e.g. Picassa, Netflix or other services, USB playback of Jpeg and video, decoding of HD audio from the Blu-ray disk. On the other hand, a computer drive allows you to (potentially ... you have to buy capable software as well as the drive) rip Blu-ray disks to the computer for conversion or use as in media centre mode. Which fits your needs better depends on your needs.

I think you will find by the time you pay for the drive and software (and maybe to get a faster graphics card or upgrade the computer RAM) a stand alone player may look pretty good. Note that even basic players handle Blu-ray essentially identically to premium players (the extra $$ primarily buys better build quality, extra features and better DVD performance).

Is there something like a cable for HD channels or 3D channels that I should get?
And if I have a standard cable with standard channels, would I be able to view stuff in HD, 3D?
Thanks

A. Yes, you will need 2 HDMI cables, assuming your TV has 2 or more HDMI inputs. You'll at least need one for the BlueRay, the game console could get away with composite cable connections.

You'll also need somewhere to connect the other end of that 30' Ethernet cable. If you have a router, hub, switch or CAT5 jack in the room you'll be OK, otherwise you'll need to decide how to connect the Xbox.

What are some good settings for my hdtv (for gaming, blu-ray movies, football, regular cable tv, etc)?
Q. I have just bought a 42" 1080p hdtv w/120hz refresh and was looking for some good settings for it. The pre-set settings are decent but was just wondering if anyone can explain all the settings to me like contrast, color, brightness, tint, sharpness. and maybe suggest some good setups for hdmi gaming, blu-ray movies, sports, regular tv watching etc.

please and thanks~

A. You can watch it in 1080p HD quality for free here:

How can I tell if my TV is truly 120Hz?
Q. I've got a Samsung 46' LCD HDTV 1080p, 120hz.
Somehow I'm having doubts that it is rather 60hz.
Is there a way to find out? <------
(No I will not use Blue-rays (Avatar) or anything of this sort to test this out)
I'm thought the manual might have some information but I can't seem to find anything related to Hz or whatever.

A. Go on the Samsung Web site and look at the specs for your TV model. They are also usually printed at the end of the user manual.

If your TV has an option to control "Auto Motion" that is usually a sign that you have 120 Hz
