PS3 vs Xbox 360?

I am thinking of buying one of them but i dont know which one to get. I am used to the plastation paddles. I know Xbox has Halo which is a plus for that. But I also want to use it as a computor in my bedroom. So which ever one is better at online. Just give me your reasons why you like one of them.

i would go for the ps3 for these reasons: It has a great built in web browser. also has built in wifi so u wouldn't need to connect it directly to an Ethernet cable is you have a wireless router.
The PSN (playstation Network) is free to all playstation owners, and is great for online play. also the psn has the playstation store which is great for downloading free demos, videos, trailers,wallpapers and themes and psn games which cost a little doe. also the ps3 has a built in blu ray player for playing the highest quality movies on the market. an 80 gig system makes for a great central entertainment piece, can store movies, music, pics and games. Wanna really get set up and get the full experience, then get an hdtv and 5.1 surround sound!

I live in the Bay Area (california); so maybe my question is which carrier is best in the bay area?
And basically there's only the big 3 (AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon) + T-mobile if you're desperate

With AT&T coming online in the next few months, Android models will be available from all of the big-four wireless carriers. If you have T-Mobile or Verizon, or are willing to switch, go for the Nexus One, our current favorite by far. It's the first phone sold directly by Google, which currently offers a version that runs on T-Mobile -- for $179 with a two-year contract -- or $529 a la carte. A Verizon model will be available sometime in spring, price unknown. Other good Android models include the Samsung Moment (Sprint), the Motorola Droid (Verizon), and the Backflip (likely AT&T).

When it came time to put its name on a phone, Google went all out. The .45-inch thick Nexus One is nearly all screen -- and what a gorgeous screen it is. The 800x480-pixel resolution shows more detail than a DVD and probably beats most HDTVs for quality, thanks to the use of OLED instead of the typical LCD technology. Colors, especially greens, are lush, and blacks are as dark as coal. All the better to show "Live Wallpapers", the gorgeous 3-D animated desktop patterns introduced in the new 2.1 version of the Android OS.

HD is a video standard. There are two standards and the higher one is 1920x1080p. This is only 2MP. Even the worlds largest HDTV, which is 205" falls under this. Why TV's? They're practically the same as computer monitors and are usually bigger versions of them. We're checking out the maximum potential here. Let's leave HD to that and go forward.

The new wave of 4K TVs have more than 8.8MP. Okay. That's more of a challenge now. Not! Even point-and-shoot cameras easily bypass that megapixel count. You can take desktop sized pictures easily with almost any current digital camera model. Just make sure you get at least 10MP.

So what is the advantage of getting a dSLR like the 600D? It offers more control to get better looking pictures. If you don't know what to do with those controls, you would get the same quality of pictures a much cheaper camera takes. It all goes down to this. Picture quality depends mostly on the skill of the photographer. The camera is only a tool.

What do I suggest? This one below. It's easy to use and if you just remember to use it under lots of light and use flash indoors and low light, you will get decent photos most of the time.

why does a 1920x1080 (1080p) wallpaper look bad on a 3D HDTV used as a monitor?

I have done some research and from what i can see a 1080p still frame is about two megapixels in quality. After researching spatial resolution my understanding is that for 1920x1080 to be displayed accurately it would have to be displayed on a 19" x 10" screen? So does that mean my wallpaper looks lame because its having to stretch it to over double the size on a 47" HD screen? now i have tried to use a 3840x2160 wallpaper but it didn't fit the screen. So i resized it in photoshop (but wouldn't this knock the resolution down (i mean quality)? As you can see i'm confused and not very aware of what i'm talking about...in short i guess my question is.... How do i get a wallpaper to look good on a large (47") 3D HDTV being used as a monitor for a computer?

I do have a hdtv card that I use to watch tv (looks great from a distance!) when using tv as a monitor viewing distance is about a 70-100cm

If I was to take a larger image i.e. 3840x2160 and open it in photoshop, then create a new 1080p size image and increase the dpi to say 200 and then free transform the large image to fit the 1920x1080 canvas would that make an image look sharper by cramming more dpi into a smaller canvas? or am i completely off there?

Its just the size of the monitor is very large.
With a 47" screen the dots per inch will be relatively low.
It will look fine from a distance - but up close the pixels will be quite large.

A high quality print will be anything up to 1200 dots per inch.
1920 pixels would be less than 2 inches at that resolution - so at 47" diagonal that is not going to look very sharp.
Your DPI on your monitor will be relatively low compared to a 1200DPI photo print.
It will even look low compared to a 300DPI print.
There is nothing you can do about this. Its all to do with the available pixels per inch.

EDIT: Just done some maths on a 47" diagonal screen and it turns out that your DPI is around 36DPI.
That's pretty low if you are up close and expecting sharp results.

the inches or centimeters, the resolution ppi/dpi, and effectively pixel count,

1920x1080 at 72 ppi is 26.6 x 15 inches,
1920x1080 at 300 ppi is 6.4 x 3.6 inches,
yet > 26.6 x 15 inches at 300 ppi is 8000 x 4500 pixels

quality print size for resolution is 300 ppi/ dpi,
but that from photo being large 30 x 20 inches at 72ppi , as example
is resized down to photo 5x7" at the 300 dpi,
not the monitor screen size of 47" or ~ (40.96 by 23.04 inches)

if for 41 by 23 inch guesstimate size, at 72 ppi resolution,
you want 2949 by 1656 pixel which is around 6.2 mega pixel image from camera,
still suggest 7 mp 3128 x 2346 *or higher , then size down or resample,

you do not or can not take smaller 1920x1080, the double or resize, as its quality/ sharpness/ blur focus is only enhanced, not the detailing,

you can take larger image greater than 6.2 megapixel, and bring down to 16:9 [2949 by 1656] ratio,
the higher the original mp, or quality, the better for viewing and refitting to wallpaper,
other issue could be large size and high resolution, then would require more memory to store data in file, where 1 megabyte file could increase by colour and depth,

PS3 vs Xbox 360?

I am thinking of buying one of them but i dont know which one to get. I am used to the plastation paddles. I know Xbox has Halo which is a plus for that. But I also want to use it as a computor in my bedroom. So which ever one is better at online. Just give me your reasons why you like one of them.

i would go for the ps3 for these reasons: It has a great built in web browser. also has built in wifi so u wouldn't need to connect it directly to an Ethernet cable is you have a wireless router.
The PSN (playstation Network) is free to all playstation owners, and is great for online play. also the psn has the playstation store which is great for downloading free demos, videos, trailers,wallpapers and themes and psn games which cost a little doe. also the ps3 has a built in blu ray player for playing the highest quality movies on the market. an 80 gig system makes for a great central entertainment piece, can store movies, music, pics and games. Wanna really get set up and get the full experience, then get an hdtv and 5.1 surround sound!
The xbox 360 has xbox live which costs 50-60bux a year. the 360 does not have a web browser yet but might be added in future updates. if you buy the elite system you will get built in wifi but if you don't you will have to pay and extra 100-120 bux for it. When it comes to games xbox does have halo, but you can only have so much fun with 1 game, ps3 has some great games and some great games on the horizon(metal gear solid 4, gran turismo 5, resistance 2, killzone 2....)
2008 is definitely gonna be a great year for ps3, tons of great games are coming out... and Home too, look it up.
i traded in my 360 for a ps3 near launch and i don't regret it. but the final decision is up to you of course. good luck, and if you get i ps3 add me, "proffesor_chaos"
