after seeing the great graphics of the 360 & PS3, do you think these systems would last for 10 years?

14_ME

the PS4 and new XBOX being 2016 or beyond? i mean the next stop would be the final one since you cant go over photorealism
no, officialy the PS2 was only 6 years, because the PS3 came out in 2006. I dont care how long they make game for a system, some games for the dreamcast and neogeo are still being made after 18 years. i am talking about an official new system

Answer
Someone recently asked if it was really true that the ps4 and xbox720 would be released in 2010. Which is ridiculous. They might start work on a new xbox that soon, but it will take a long time to develop, and they won't likely call it xbox720, either, "720" only relates to snowboarders or skaters.

Both consoles were designed to satisfy the high-end HD market. Only a small percentage of people have HDTV's yet. After February 2009 that percentage will make a jump, but it will still be years before it even reaches the halfway point. Maybe 2013 or so.

Next, the xbox and ps3 are the limit of current home-pc processing technology. Processors reached their current, 2 to 3 ghz limit about 5 years ago, due to heat problems. A recent advance in chip technology will allow faster chips to be made, but it's not even close to being implemented yet. The xbox has 3 fast processors, and the ps3 has a staggering 7. That's about as many processors as you can put into a computer or console, and still have it be cost-effective and have developers making applications for it.

So the bottom line is basically, they CAN'T make the next generation yet. The technology it will have to involve is in its infancy, I doubt it will be implemented in time to save Moore's Law, maybe in big mainframes or servers it will be implemented in 2 or 3 years, but I think it will realistically hit PC's in about 2012 or 2013. Console developers need to see how it works in PC's before putting it in consoles, so giving them a couple years dev time would put the next generation around 2014 to 2016.

Now about that photorealism thing, I disagree, there's a lot more to do to make games more realistic and lifelike.

For one thing, most 3D games use classical rules of perspective, ignoring the way the world actually looks to your eyes. You don't see a rectangle in front of you, and you have much more peripheral vision too. If you turn quickly in a 3D shooter, straight lines often look curved. Devs have been making optical tricks to deal with this for a while, but there is much work to be done.

A couple years back, Sony showed off the first flexible LCD video screen. That's right, you could conceivably have a game system where the screen wraps around in a semicircle around you, or even a "virtual reality" room where the screen surrounds you. Games for such a system will be awesome and will take more than the next generation to handle

I saw a commercial in the middle of the night for a cable (box?) that you can access over 900 channels with. It's $47, a one time payment for the (box?) and no monthly payment for the cable. It said that since the government switched t.v. to digital that its completely legal for them to be doing this. Can anybody tell me what its called?(name of company or what this box is called?) Thanks!

Answer
The ad is for a UHF antenna called Clear-Cast that is supposed to be able to pick up TV channels within 50 miles of your home. Nobody has 900 broadcast stations within 50 miles of his home. The digital switchover has nothing to do with the legality or illegality of selling UHF antennas.

http://stopthecap.com/2012/04/02/clear-cast-hdtv-antenna-subject-of-better-business-bureau-review-ad-confuses-consumers/

1. You get what you pay for (or less in this case, RadioShack sells the same antenna for $25.00).
2. If it sounds too good to be true, it isn't.

When the T.V. industry goes 100% digital next year will that affect people that have cable boxes already?

ccnice1

What recommendations for new TVs under $500 do you have?

Answer
The TV industry is not going 100% digital.

Cable and Satellite are not directly affected. Only Over the air analog TV is being discontinued.
The cable industry has agreed to continue to provide analog versions of the local over the air TV until 2012, or to furnish converter boxes.

Whatever your present cable service, it shouldn't need to change.
However, you can expect some cable operators to start moving some of their analog offerings to digital, and to encourage customers to get digital service.

Over the air TV from an antenna will still be available using a digital to analog converter box. The Government is providing up to two $40 coupons per household;d towards the purchase of two converter boxes which are expected to cost about $70 or less each before coupon.

The coupons can be applied for now.

As far as recommendations for TVs is concerned, I suggest you get the December issue of Consumer Reports from your Library. They review a large number of sets. When it comes to these new digital sets, it may be very attractive to go with the lowest price you can find. The problem is that not only is the performance poorer, but the reliability and support are much poorer. For many of them, once the warranty is over, there's no service available once they fail.

Does the brand of hdmi cable really really matter,is it all hype?

who makes the best quality hdtv image

pookiepoo

I just purchased a 42 in. LG plasma and now I have to make the quality better. The monster cables are about 70 bucks on amazon with free shipping but I just read somwhere that newegg has hdmi cables for 30 bucks with shipping. Some reviews for the monster cable say that there is too much hype about them.

Does the brand matter? I know that there is a dfference in the way it is made for durability but does this mean that the cheaper version would get damaged within a year or something?

Also, after I get this cable will I need to have a specific cable box? I already have a digital cable box. And before I get HDMI which I know is the cable to provide the highest quality, is there another way I can get high quality with cables I may already have?

Thanks!

Answer
Yes, there is another way.. component cables, and yes, you must upgrade your cable box for hdtv. Digital alone does not cut it.
I was concerned with this myself and read many reviews that all say Monster cables are a overpriced rip-off. That the lower priced cables are just fine. It turned out I didn't have choice as when I upgraded my Optimum cable box for hdtv it doesn't even have an hdmi output. When I complained to Optimum they said hdmi wasn't necessary. Without any choice I used the component cables (supplied by Optimum) and have a beautiful picture. I have no way of knowing if it would be better with hdmi but I am certainly not at all disappointed with the picture quality the way it is. I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40S2010 tv. Not sure why you think you have to "make the quality better, but I suggest you try it first with component cables and then, if you are not satisfied, get the lower priced hdmi cables through the Internet.
Please note that you must exchange your cable box for an hdtv capable cable box. Could this explain your problem regarding making the quality better?
Hope this helps!

Blazed and

I have a Phillips 60 Inch DLP HDTV and i have regular cable and i connect it, and the image looks way to stretched and nasty looking, not very good image quality at all, do i have to buy some type of cable or anything special for this type of tv to make the image look better.

Answer
Regular cable will always look like crap on an HDTV because it has to stretch and scale an image from 480p to 720p or 1080p depending on your TV. In order to get the best quality, there are two things you need to do:

1. Upgrade to HDTV and watch HD stations.
2. Upgrade to digital cable and use HDMI or component cables. This will be much better than a coax or composite.

As far as your "stretched" issue, that's your aspect ratio. Your TV is probably a 16:9 aspect ratio. Regular cable is 4:3. Go into your menues and change the aspect ratio and everything will look better. You will have black bars on the sides though.

Why does my HP Hdtv image looks blury, when I hook up my hdtv cable from my laptop to the tv?

Rafael G

I have a Satellite x205-s9349 Toshiba laptop... and when I connect my 80dlls HDTV cable from my laptop to my HP hdtv the image looks blurry, only videos look good... do you guys have any suggestions so I can correct the image?

Answer
First off, check your screen resolution on your computer. The base setting your computer should use for widescreen is 1024X768. If it is set at something different then switch it up. There may be other resolution settings that will give you an even better picture, but the 1024 is perfect for widescreen.

Second, check your TV's manual and double check the recommended refresh rate for that set. Many computer video cards can handle refresh rates much greater than the Tv can handle. You may need to adjust that setting to ensure good picture quality. A higher refresh rate can also harm your TV permanently. 60Hz is a normal setting.

Third, remember that things are going to get fuzzier when they get bigger. It is just part of life. Everything should be better when you change your screen resolution though.

also if you have hd tv set,how do you get your old analog recorders to work properly. d/a converter?? Will the FCC grant an extention from hd transmissions until people have a better Idea of what is envolved.

Answer
There are already digital TV broadcasts, including "HD" ones. What is happening is that after 2/17/09, almost all analog over the air broadcasts will stop.

You can buy converters for your old analog TV and recorders now, but most people are waiting until March 2008 when cheaper converters should be in the stores and the government will be sending out discount coupons that will bring the cost of the first two converters down to about $20 each.

These converters are for use with an antenna only; satellite and cable companies usually supply the conversion for their customers.

The converters only tune into on channel at a time. To change that channel you have to either use a remote control (included with converter) or press buttons on the converter box. This means that you won't be able to program your analog recorders to change the channels.

All the HDTVs I know of have analog inputs, so there isn't any problem hooking your analog recorders to them. The problem is that if you have a large screen, the picture quality will not be that great

You can also buy DVD recorders with digital (ATSC) tuners built in. I was in Walmart yesterday; they had their cheapest one down to $135. They only record in SD quality, but at least you can program them like an old VCR.

The chances of the government (FCC) changing the 2/17/09 cutoff is pretty close to zero. They are planning on getting a big pile of money by selling off some surplus channels.

The transition is to digital TV (DTV), not HDTV; some programming is not in HD. This doesn't matter if you are using a converter because they convert it all to analog with about the same quality as you get from a DVD player.

Blu ray players and viewing distance?

Yoda

I've read alot about proper viewing distances for viewing blu ray movies and HDTV. My viewing distance is way outside of the range. I have a 65" RP CRT which is 1080i, and my viewing distance is about 16 feet away. Is buying a blu ray a player a waste of my money or should I invest in a good upconvert dvd player instead.

Answer
Invest in a Blu-ray player as the quality is great. Even on my HDCP 20" 720p monitor the difference between DVD and Blu-ray is huge, you won't notice the bad quality that DVD has until you watch a Blu-ray Disc movie, even the bad discs are good.

The interactivity is also good if you buy a bonus view player as Blu-ray Disc gives PiP, and Hi-def audio, and upscaled DVD isn't anything as good as Blu-ray Discs. Anyway a DVD upscaler can't upscale audio of interactivity.

However do you have a HDMI connection, because over component which is analouge the studios can freely downconvert the signal into DVD quality, due to the Image Constaint Token, or deny to play in the near future (Digital Only Token (DOT)). Some third parties say that they won't use it until 2010 to 2012, but it is not confirmed, and the studios can use it if they wish, anyway since the format war is over, it might be used. Check wheither you have HDMI, as far as I know not many CRT's have HDMI.

16 Feet away is a huge distance but, since you have a large screen it will look a lot better than DVD, but 10 Feet will be ideak for you.

Blu-ray is great, but make sure you have HDMI, as component isn't future proof. Also buy a PS3 as it's cheap and it can do Bonus View and BD LIVE where most players can't, be upgrade only PS3's and PC Drives can be upgraded.

But since you have a HUGE screen Blu-ray will be a good investment, even if you don't have HDMI (as only Warner hasn't really said wheither they will not use it, and 2010-2012 is a long time), and also if you don't have HDMI I don't think upconvert DVD players can upconvert with component, they might be able to with VGA, not sure though.

But....... if you don't won't to spend money on Blu-ray pickup a HD DVD player with HDMI, for a sweet upconverter, and you can take advantage of the clearance of over 300 HD DVD titiles like Harry Potter, Transformers , Poseidon , Shrek, Troy and much more, and build up a massive library in you home. It has to be noted that if you won't buy Blu-ray, HD DVD players are the BEST upconverters, and they are going dead cheap though to the format war, and it is always neglected that HD DVD players can upscale very well, but it will always be second rate compared with Blu-ray, or a native HD source.

In the end it depends with you, but if you are going for Blu-ray buy a PS3 with a HDMI connection, and check wheither you have HDMI, as you won't get upscaled DVD's without it most of the time. Still for the time being Blu-ray can do HD via analouge component up to 1080i (which you have), and VGA can do full HD ( no point for 1080i though).

So have a think about it, in the end it's about your budget, but since you have a large TV Blu-ray should be better than DVD even if it is upscaled, anyway you can't be sure that all DVD upscalers are good, although HD DVD players are good upscalers.

But on an upside Blu-ray has better picture quality, better audio (dependant on players decoders for audio) and more interactivity (dependant on Player Profiles).

Just Sold My Old Xbox 360 Should I Buy A New Slim Bundle?

best hdtv deals 2013 image

Mocho22

How long should it take for the xbox 360 slim to turn into the old thing of the past. I hear 2013-2016 will release some or all new consoles by major companies. By that time I think video gaming would be majorly expensive for me considering I am a college student and I would like to save for a car or to dorm at college. Should buying a new xbox 360 slim 250GB bundle be in my interest, I mean it seems like a good deal but 300 dollars holy crap that's a ton of dough. I was considering buy a TV but most TV's seem to wanting to release 1080P and 3D technologies in the future so buying a 720P would be stupid. Saving up for something.

Is investing in today's cheaper technologies like xbox 360's, 720P/1080i HDTV's, Ect. worth it. I mean I will probably upgrade in the future.

Also wouldn't it just be best to wait it out, the wii ended out being a weak fad with bad graphics and good exclusives but mostly bad games, the ps3 at launch sold for 600 bucks I remember because I was so jealous of my rich friend when he got one on his B-day, the xbox360 ended up being junk until recently when they added in built in wi-fi and bigger harddrives.

I am started to see what technology does, and I don't like it. They hold out and gives us shit first then, give us more shit to buy. Apple my most hated company is the king of doing this for example.

Hopefully @ E3 which will not be open to the public sadly in June I will find out where the new xbox and ps4 stands. Also what will new consoles do? If It's 3D and we need new Tv's like Expensive 3D HDTV's needed to grab full potential I am going to laugh my ass off. 3D is not so revolutionary and as a guy already wearing glasses, it's not that cool. So maybe buying a xbox slim will be a good investment, also saving my money will be a good one as well. There is a lot of games I haven't played and the xbox 360 slims, old backwards compatibly wii and ps3 seem better than any new console to show it's face.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/LG-55LM4600-55-1080p-120Hz-3D-LED-1.4-ultra-slim-HDTV/21693006#Specifications

Answer
That is the entry level 3D TV from the 2012 line up (the LM in the model number is the 2012 designation, LA is the 2013 lineup).

Overall - that series is considered to be a very decent TV. For that particular model...since it is the entry level...you will have somewhat less features than the higher up in the series (LM6200, LM6700, LM7600, LM8600, LM9600)...but overall it's not much different. This particular one does not have the Smart Features of the LM6200 and up...and it also doesn't have as good of processors as the LM7600 and up, but it should be decent enough for normal use.

As far as 3D and glasses are concerned. These TV's use passive 3D...meaning that (and this is in laymans terms) the picture is filtered in a way that when the glasses are put on...the left eye sees one picture and the right eye sees another...and your brain makes it 3D. Without glasses on...it will just look like an extremely out of focus picture.

As far as cons for this unit...there are 2:

1st (and this applies to a LOT of manufacturers and not just LG).
The 120Hz "Tru Motion Rate" is not the same thing as a 120Hz refresh rate. So - though it sort-of performs like a 120Hz TV...it really is a 60Hz panel. You will find this to be the case in most of the lesser expensive models from all manufacturers.

2nd:
Given that this is a left-over 2012 model...you are already starting out with 1 year old technology. Not saying that it's not good technology...but that there is already a newer model and any 2012 models are simply left-overs that didnt sell. You should expect to see a significant savings from the 2013 models. It's hard to price-compare an overstock model...since the major retailers who would normally carry these have already replaced them with 2013 models...so you can;t always rely on a quick google shopping search...as it's likely to come up with few results.

Overall though...$800 for a 55" 3D TV is not bad...so you certainly aren;t getting hosed at that price...but you just have to realize that it's marked down because it is in fact a 1 - 2 year old tv...even though its new.

I want to know if there is an observable difference in picture quality with an HDTV as opposed to an older TV bought in 2001 - not flat screen. This is if I do not subscribe to HDTV from my cable provider while using the newer HDTV. Thanks
I didn't make myself clear. I have digital cable. I just don't pay extra for the high density stations.
I repeat: I have digital cable. I use a cable box. I pay comcast x amount of dollars a month to get digital cable. It's just that it is NOT a box that delivers High Def.

Answer
Keep your 2001 TV until such time as you decide to upgrade to HD reception. The analog channels that you get via direct cable (no box) will not look better on an HDTV, and will probably be worse. An HDTV is a digital receiver, and it has to compromise an analog signal in order to display it.

If you're in the U.S., your cable company is likely to go all-digital some time after the end of 2012, so that might be the time to consider a new TV.
--------------------------------------
Per your additional details: same response. An HDTV will display a standard-def digital signal very nicely, about as good as it can get, but the difference compared to your old set is not enough to warrant investing in an HDTV. You wouldn't be utilizing the set's capabilities that you paid for. Buy an HDTV when you upgrade to HD.

When do we need to switch to HD Tv's?

Jackie B

I know there is a law coming up and that all companies will only run on hd tvs and that everyone has to go out and but a new HD tv but when is all of this happening.

Answer
(This answer assumes you are located in the US)

Someone is giving you bad information.

No one has to buy a new TV.

What is true is that the US is changing over from an analog to a digital TV broadcast system. However, digital TV signals can be cheaply converted to analog signals that old TVs can use. This includes "HDTV" signals.

If you get TV over the air (OTA), you will need to buy a converter box to keep using older TVs. Most analog TV signals will be shut down after 2/17/2009. Starting in Jan 2008 the government will start giving out coupons that will let you buy a couple of them for about $20 each. If you get good OTA reception now, you should be able to use your old TV antenna.

Satellite TV signals are already digital. The receivers have a converter to change them to analog for older TV's

Cable companies are required to maintain analog TV service until at least 2012.

If you go to Walmart you can buy "SDTV"s that have digital tuners and can receive all the digital OTA broadcasts, including "HD" ones. The difference is that a SDTV or an old TV with a converter box can only display a picture of the quality that you get with a DVD player. A HDTV set can display a picture with at least twice as much picture resolution.

Recently cancelled cable and cannot get local channels?

high quality indoor hdtv antenna
on PROFILE INDOOR PASSIVE TV ANTENNA (ANTENNAS) High Quality: Electronics
high quality indoor hdtv antenna image

Brad

I am an Arizona resident and recently cancelled my Cox cable service. For 3 or 4 months since I cancelled the service I have been using the coaxial cable to get local channels on both my digital televisions (the main tv being an Element and the smaller tv being a Westinghouse). Recently though on both televisions I have lost 2 channels and have done automatic channel searches on both the TVs (as well as other searches) and have not gotten them back (the channels are the CW and Fox). I bought a RCA Amplified indoor off-air HDTV antenna but it only found one or two channels and I made sure to do the channel search through the antenna. So I hooked up the coaxial cables again. Then today on the Element tv I can no longer get NBC or PBS but I can get it on the Westinghouse. I have tried different coaxial cables and as mentioned before the RCA antenna but both of those did not work. Does anybody have any advice? Also, if it helps I live on the bottom floor of an apartment complex.

Answer
It's truly sad how many people are led astray by junky indoor antennas that are supposed to work as well or better than anything else. Several in that category with the RCA brand can't be expected to work much better than a coathanger, if that.

With your given situation, your best hope is a top quality indoor antenna, and that would be the one in the link below. If I had to put out money for an indoor antenna, it's the only one I'd consider. If you can't get a channel with that one, it isn't going to happen with an indoor antenna.

Two side notes: (1), forget your cable wall outlet. You cancelled that subscription, so that resource is gone. And just FYI, (2), there are no "HDTV" antennas. Any time you see that in an ad or on the side of box, it's simply marketing baloney that's intended to make you think it will actually work. Absolute technical nonsense. A TV antenna is a TV antenna, period. They all work the same, whether the incoming signal is HD, SD, analog, or something else.
- - - - -
Followup per the other answer about San Francisco. The S.F. Bay Area is not a typical over-the-air TV market. The area is a major hotspot for OTA, thanks to transmitters high up and very nearby on Mt. Diablo, Mt. San Bruno, and especially Mt. Sutro in the center of S.F. itself. It's one of those places where the coathanger I mentioned would actually work. Or a cheap RCA antenna.

But this fellow isn't in one of the world's hottest reception areas for OTA. He's in Arizona, where reception can assumed to be more typical. And he's in a ground floor apartment. That means the coathanger--or the cheap RCA--isn't a good bet. Not impossible, but we can only go with the provided information. As long as he's spending money on something, $45 for an SS3000 is still a far better bet than $12 for the known poor performer.

Is there such a thing as a digital television signal amplifier?

sadwolf

I just bought a new digital tv, so there is no converter box , and only one of the digital channels come in. the rest are just blank. I know it is because I live too far away from the transmitters in chicago. Does anyone know if there is an amplifier I can use for a tv only?

Answer
What are you using for an antenna? Before you purchase any RF amplification you should read Peter Putman’s articles and check the AntennaWeb reference, to which I’ve posted links below.

On the subject of RF amplification for DTV signals: if you’re using an outdoor terrestrial antenna (and hopefully you are) then I recommend that you take a look at the high-performance, ultra low-noise Type 9254 HDTV preamplifier (with the Type 9252* weatherproof masthead-mount enclosure) and Type 9255 power supply combo from Research Communications rather than purchasing your standard, run-of-the-mill RF line amplifier or distribution amplifier. *(If you’re using an indoor antenna simply omit the waterproof/weatherproof masthead enclosure.)

Low-noise RF (booster) amplification should be located reasonably close to your antenna elements in order to minimize the amplification of RF noise and interference, hence the masthead-mounted enclosures. It’s important to keep in mind that using RF booster amplifiers can be a ‘double-edged sword’ particularly if you live in an above-average electromagnetically noisy environment.

You may also want to consider upgrading your antenna. Again, if you are using an outdoor terrestrial antenna then you should take a look at the various off-air terrestrial TV antennas from Terrestrial Digital / Antennas Direct and other manufacturers. The optimum combination of pre/amplifier and off-air antenna, along with a good quality antenna rotor system, should provide a noticeable improvement in performance.

How to get a better picture quality on a lcd hdtv?

bbjamie14

I recently bought a 1080p lcd hdtv, right now im watching tv just through basic cable without a cable box or anything else. But when im watching tv i dont feel the picture quality is very good, it looks somewhat blurry and i just dont feel like im getting what im suppose to. I wasnt really expecting that though it being an HD ready tv and putting out 1080p. Would getting an HD cable box from my cable provider help?

Answer
The picture looks bad because you are looking at standard-definition channels, not HD channels.

HDTVs usually make standard-def channels look WORSE, not better!

So what you need to do is get some HD channels.

To do that with cable, you probably have to upgrade your cable account to pay extra for HD and get an HD cable box. But before you do that, you could try without a box, and have your TV scan for new channels (tell it you have digital cable when you start the scan), and it may pick up a few channels (mostly major networks) in HD. If you are happy with just those in HD, you might not need to pay extra for HD.

If you collect all three stamps at McDonalds for their monopoly contest, do you automatically win that prize?

best hdtv for gaming 2013

best hdtv for gaming 2013 image

Zack and B

I've been playing the McDonald's monopoly thing and have almost collected all of one color and I want to know if you definitely win that prize.

Answer
Ah, the McDonald's Monopoly game... chasing after that one color stamp to win the big prize. If only it was that simple.

First of all, if you like McDonald's and you are happy about winning a food prize, its ok to play. Here's how it breaks down:•Medium Fries ($1.75) – Odds 1 in 9, or 11.1% chance you win.
• Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese ($3.60) – Odds 1 in 44, or 2.3% chance you win.
• Small McCafe or Smoothie ($2.40) – Odds 1 in 44, or 2.3% chance you win.
• McFlurry ($2.55) – Odds 1 in 44, or 2.3% chance you win.
• Breakfast Sandwich ($2.65) — Odds 1 in 22, or 4.6% chance you win

The other instant prizes (winning a DVD rental from a Red Box) to headphones are tougher. The DVD is 1 in 101 and the odds go up from there.

Now for the challenge - getting the properties. The truth is that whatever property group you need, one space is much, much, much more difficult to get than the others. Take the Red group (Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky) which gives you one of 40 plane tickets - the odds of getting Indiana or Illinois are around 1 in 10. The odds of getting Kentucky Ave., however, is 1 in 15 million.

Here is a list of the odds for all of the properties (plus the toughest one of each set to obtain):
BROWN: Mediterranean Ave, odds 1 in 30 million wins $1,000.
• LIGHT BLUE: Vermont Ave, odds 1 in 40 million, wins $5,000.
• PINK: Virginia Ave, odds 1 in 200 million, wins $10,000
• ORANGE: Tennessee Ave, odds 1 in 602 million, wins Super Bowl tickets.
• RED: Kentucky Ave, odds 1 in 15 million, wins one of 40 plane tickets for two.
• YELLOW: Ventnor Ave, odds 1 in 300 million, wins $20,000
• GREEN: Pennsylvania Ave, odds 1 in 40 million, wins one of 15 Fiat cars.
• BLUE: Boardwalk, 1 in 602 million, wins $1,000,000 in $50,000 annual payments.
• RAILROADS: Short Line railroad, 1 in 150 million, wins a year's supply of gas.

Do you see the challenge? It's not getting two of the three properties, it's getting the extremely scarce third one.

Here, btw, are the odds for winning the non-food prizes:
40 point MyCoke Reward (or medium Coke) - 1 in 151
$5 McDonald's Arch card - 1 in 21,518
EA Sports $10 promo code - 1 in 161
$10 Shell Gift Card - 1 in 60,250
Hasbro Monopoly Board Game - 1 in 60,250
$25 Shell Gift Card - 1 in 86,071
Shutterfly 8x8 PhotoBook - 1 in 302
EA Sports Game - 1 in 35,441
$50 - 1 in 60,250
ur Beats Earphones - 1 in 4,061,000
$100 - 1 in 105,701
Panasonic Lumix TS20 Digital Still camera - 1 in 1,506,202
Beats by Dr. Dre Phil Speaker - 1 in 4,016,601
Headphones - 1 in 301,245,030
Panasonic Viera 50-inch Plasma HDTV - 1 in 10,401,541
$5,000 - 1 in 40,166,041
EA Sports NFL Game Experience - 1 in 10,041,541
Beaches Resorts Vacation - 4,634,539
Ace Hardware $7,500 Home Fix-Up - 1 in 31,710,004
NFL Pro Bowl Experience - 30,124,503
2013 Fiat 500 Hatchback - 1 in 60,249,006
2013 Fiat 500 Cabrio - 1 in 60,249,006
$20,000 - 1 in 200,830,020
$100,000 - 1 in 301,245,030

So the morale of the story is if you want to win Medium Fries, you have a good chance of going away happy; otherwise, don't count on anything else.

Does it still worth to buy a PS3 FAT?

Dvid

Lets face it. Its 2013. Still I would like to ask: should I invest? Im planning on buying a cheap first gen PS3, I would renovate it by cleaning it and changing thermal paste, adding a new, large hard drive. I am also planning on buying a cheap HDTV to use with it. I want to buy it becouse I want to play some games that are only available on the PS platform, but also any games I can get my hands on. But the big question: should I invest in buying a first gen PS3 that probably was made in 2006 or 2007? Also is there a noticeable difference between the SLIM and the FAT versions? I need advice, please help.
Please note that I dont want to wait for the PS4 becouse I dont have the money for that thing....

Answer
If you don't plan on getting a ps4 right away then ya get a ps3, but you should get a slim as they're more reliable.

Samsung 32" LCD HDTV (LN-S3251D) or Sony 32" BRAVIA S-Series LCD HDTV (KDL-32S2000). I actually already bought the Samsung a few days ago but spotted the Sony for $250 cheaper. The contrast ratio is higher on the Samsung so wouldn't that mean I would get a better picture?
Also I am considering this T.V as well Panasonic 37" Plasma HDTV (TH-37PX60U). So out of all three which one should I go with.
The Sony has a HD Monitor so how could it be better than the Samsung HDTV?

Answer
It sounds like the purchase you made was a good one. Yes, the higher aspect ratio means a clearer picture. Not a big fan of plasmas, but the Panasonic didn't look too bad. Take a look on C|NET.com for their reviews (editors and users). The links are below.

Is a RCA or a Sceptre TV a better choice?

Julia

I want to buy my boyfriend a new tv for his room. I have narrowed it down between a 26" RCA Class LCD HDTV with a built in DVD player and a Sceptre 32" Class LCD HDTV... I have no idea which one is the better choice! The reviews on both seem to be good, at least 4 stars. Someone help!

Answer
I don't know the Sceptre brand, but RCA is 100% Chinese.
Service and parts are a problem.

Stick with a Korean (Samsung) or the majority of the Japanese
brands.

HDMI will help out the graphics, but not your problem. then You hold up a phone and video tape, the picture doesn't look well, because the pixels in the phone capture the pixels on your tv at a high rate.

Answer
It is definitely something i wish I could afford...The only problem I see here is that the power supply might not be enough for both those video cards. The 680 needs at least 550w and the 640 needs at 350w so, you need a better power supply for it. Other than that..it's a really good computer with tons of stuff.

Pioneer PDP-6070HD 60" PureVision Plasma HDTV

The second one is 1375 x 785 and I would like to know the perceivable difference in picture quality between the two. Thanks.

Answer
If you are watching Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, then, maybe then, you will see a better picture on the 1080p.
If you're watching regular cable or satellite HD channels, you won't notice a difference.
Until 1080p sources are more common, you can save some money.
Google search interlaced, progressive, frames per second, for more info.

Is there really that big of a difference between hdtv and regular tv?

Answer
HDMI will help out the graphics, but not your problem. then You hold up a phone and video tape, the picture doesn't look well, because the pixels in the phone capture the pixels on your tv at a high rate.
