I am getting around 200 in back taxes. and I am trying to decide on what I should spend it on. Theres only one thing I NEED but the other things I WANT.

Things I need:
New tires for my truck - price- 508.19

Things I want:
PS3
3DS
HD TV- Picture on Tv now is going out (Keeps flickering)
HD PVR (To record video of gaming and upload them on youtube.)

I need help deciding. And dont just say tires cause my tires aint bad. They just need replaced sooner than later

Thank in advanced

Answer
Since you have a bad i'd say buy a new TV. There are some cheap ones for around 200-300 dollars. There about 32-37 inches i think. Don't buy a PS3 just yet because the PS4 is coming this Holiday 2013. I'm pretty sure that Sony will drop the price of PS3 if you still want it. On black Friday Sony comes with bundles that much cheaper than now so don't get PS3 now. Considering that HDTVs are really cheap now you can buy that now. For HD PVR you will not need that because most games now have a theater mode where you can save that gameplay, use a usb flash drive to transfer the gameplay to your computer then upload.

Are you getting UHDTV when it comes out?

best hdtv picture quality 2010 image

Matthew

It has over 30 megapixels of video quality in it ALONE. You could buy any camera on this planet and you would still never find a better looking picture resolution. Its 22.2 channel audio, and 7680x4320 pixel resolution. You can't even compare this to the most highest end T.V. out there. It blows everything out of the sky! Too bad it won't be out for the public until at least 2016. Damn, are you gonna get it?

Answer
Sorry to burst your bubble, but 2016 is way too hopeful in my opinion, at least for North America.

A stream that can support a 30 mega-pixel video resolution would take up an absolute enormous amount of bandwidth, likely over 25 times the bandwidth for an HD channel today even when you factor in compression and optimization.

There simply isn't enough bandwidth available on existing Cable or Satellite networks to handle multiple UHDTV channels. Even if we assume we will be able to increase realistic bandwidth throughput over cable, there is a physical limit to the bandwidth of the physical cable itself that can't be overcome. Basically if we used existing networks, under ideal conditions we would only be able to have about 5 UHDTV channels, and even then, it would leave us very little room for any other TV channels.

In other words, we will have to wait until our entire data communications infrastructure has been completely upgraded to the point where direct fiber-to-the-home connections are commonplace before we can consider getting UHDTV.

And that's just the problem with the network infrastructure, then of course there are the issues concerning the actual ability to manufacture a home-theater sized display with that kind of resolution and still make it affordable (I really don't believe this can be done anywhere near 2016). We would also need to completely reinvent HDMI to produce a video connection standard that could support much higher bitrates (higher than than 10 Gbps) which would prove to be fairly difficult. Then of course there is the issue of cameras, and the issue of video editing (you would basically need a super-computer to render any special effects or animations at that resolution, and even basic video editing would prove to be very difficult).

So basically, I do too look forward to the day we can get UHDTV in the home, but quite frankly I don't think you should expect this to be a reality for good 10 years or so. Remember that the HDTV standard was designed in the early 90s with tests broadcasts as earlier as 1994, but it is now 2010 and there are still many people who are only now adopting HDTV in their homes.

What's a good 46" 3DTV to get for around $1400?

Gabe

I'm looking into getting a 46" 3DTV for around $1400, but I can be flexible on the price. Picture quality is the biggest deciding factor for me. I don't care in the slightest about the TV's internet features, as my Xbox can do everything that can, and though a good design would be nice, I'd take a TV with killer picture quality over a killer design any day. Any suggestions?

Answer
I would recommend a Panasonic Plasma tv model ST-30 or the GT 30. Go online to Home theater magazine and read the reviews on 3D HDTV. Last month they reviewed 3 Panasonic Plasma tv model ST30, GT30 and the VT30. For 2010 the magazine named the Panasonic VT25 as the best tv.
Hope this will help you out.

I need some advice. I am currently looking at the Panasonic TCP50ST50. I can get it for around $875 given the sales, CC discount, and points I have saved up. But, should I buy this TV now, or wait for the 2013 models to arrive. Here are my needs: I cannot go larger than 50 inch. Picture Quality is the number 1 priority. I have surround sound already set up. The TV will be an a basement that has windows, but still a dark room. I will be using it mostly for HDTV, Blue Ray DVD, and some gaming. I have a Wii U so I already have an ability to stream into my Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and Hulu accounts. So the questions would be: approx how much will the 2013 50 inch models be? Is Panasonic still the best? And will the new features on the 50" models be worth the extra expense?

Answer
You should consider the LED TV, tough the price is higher for that size. I find that the picture quality is better and the newer models are also equipped with a number of features (i.e.3D , direct internet connection, youtube streaming). Wait for the new models to be launched, so that the older models' price will drop. Samsung and Sony are also quite good choices.

I would like to connect my gateway mt6728 laptop to my HP Plasma HDTV to watch movies and videos on the TV through the laptop. I have read that for the best quality a DVI to HDMI connection should be used. I also read an S-Video cable can be used. I'm not sure which, if either of these methods are compatible with my gateway MT6728 laptop.

Any help with this matter would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Answer
looks like all you have on your laptop is a vga port
you do not say what model of HP plasma HDTV you have, so check the back for a vga port. it would be a sub miniature connector that looks like a db9 connector. the HDMI are totally different looking.
if you got one, try hooking it up with a vga cable.
mine sucked though. the image quality was fuzzy and very poor.

Why does our new plasma HDTV have a lower quality/grainy picture?

shpigford

We just got a 50" Samsung HPT5064 plasma HDTV and a lot of channels (non-HD) seem to have a grainy or low quality picture. Is there some setting we should change? Is this common for larger screens? We went from a 23" CRT TV to this so all of it is fairly new to me.
As someone asked, Comcast is our cable provider and they did provide us with an HD box.

Also, we're sitting probably around 10-12 feet from the television.

Answer
SD TV does not look good on an HDTV. On my 40", I have to sit about 8" back for it to look good, and my set was well rated for SD display. How good or bad it looks depends on the input signal's quality. A 50" widescreen has a picture height equivalent to a 41" standard TV. When you blow-up analog TV that was never designed for displays that large, right away you have a problem. On top of that, in order to be displayed on an HDTV, the signal has to be deinterlaced and up-scaled to the native resolution of the set. This processing introduces artifacts. Non-up-converted DVDs should look pretty good. That;'s as good as you can get from SD material. If from about 10", your picture isn't acceptable, then you may want to look for a set that's better rated for SD.

Ok here is the same motherboard and a phenom 2 940 quad core processor (which is better) combo deal for $335! Thats less than your current cost for motherboard and cpu together. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.181991
Also you are looking at an sli motherboard which is great, but your buying a crossfireX graphics card.......that is just dumb!
Here is a EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Superclocked Edition - $195
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130372
This is a great card, and in the future you can purchase another one and run them in sli!
Other than that it looks like your good to go, if your going to overclock your processor I would HIGHLY suggest getting an after market cooler. If not your should be fine with the stock.
Good luck! :)

after seeing the great graphics of the 360 & PS3, do you think these systems would last for 10 years?

14_ME

the PS4 and new XBOX being 2016 or beyond? i mean the next stop would be the final one since you cant go over photorealism
no, officialy the PS2 was only 6 years, because the PS3 came out in 2006. I dont care how long they make game for a system, some games for the dreamcast and neogeo are still being made after 18 years. i am talking about an official new system

Answer
Someone recently asked if it was really true that the ps4 and xbox720 would be released in 2010. Which is ridiculous. They might start work on a new xbox that soon, but it will take a long time to develop, and they won't likely call it xbox720, either, "720" only relates to snowboarders or skaters.

Both consoles were designed to satisfy the high-end HD market. Only a small percentage of people have HDTV's yet. After February 2009 that percentage will make a jump, but it will still be years before it even reaches the halfway point. Maybe 2013 or so.

Next, the xbox and ps3 are the limit of current home-pc processing technology. Processors reached their current, 2 to 3 ghz limit about 5 years ago, due to heat problems. A recent advance in chip technology will allow faster chips to be made, but it's not even close to being implemented yet. The xbox has 3 fast processors, and the ps3 has a staggering 7. That's about as many processors as you can put into a computer or console, and still have it be cost-effective and have developers making applications for it.

So the bottom line is basically, they CAN'T make the next generation yet. The technology it will have to involve is in its infancy, I doubt it will be implemented in time to save Moore's Law, maybe in big mainframes or servers it will be implemented in 2 or 3 years, but I think it will realistically hit PC's in about 2012 or 2013. Console developers need to see how it works in PC's before putting it in consoles, so giving them a couple years dev time would put the next generation around 2014 to 2016.

Now about that photorealism thing, I disagree, there's a lot more to do to make games more realistic and lifelike.

For one thing, most 3D games use classical rules of perspective, ignoring the way the world actually looks to your eyes. You don't see a rectangle in front of you, and you have much more peripheral vision too. If you turn quickly in a 3D shooter, straight lines often look curved. Devs have been making optical tricks to deal with this for a while, but there is much work to be done.

A couple years back, Sony showed off the first flexible LCD video screen. That's right, you could conceivably have a game system where the screen wraps around in a semicircle around you, or even a "virtual reality" room where the screen surrounds you. Games for such a system will be awesome and will take more than the next generation to handle

Giant HDTVs are as American as extended-cab pickup trucks and the Super Bowl. Incidentally, they display the Super Bowl really nicely and may require a pickup truck to get them home from the store. If you have the room, browse this list and revel in sheer size.

Answer
The Walmart After Christmas sale in 2012 will begin as an online only sale on Christmas Day. Then, you will be able to Shop the Day After Christmas Sale at Walmart. Most sites and stores do not have sales that actually start on Christmas Day. Walmart is one of the few stores that has a robust sale that starts so early. A lot of websites really start pushing their deals hard on the Day After Christmas.

There will be a ton of great deals on electronics, toys, clothing, home items, even Christmas Decorations on sale starting Christmas Day and on Tuesday. The Walmart After Christmas 2012 sale will continue on throughout the week more than likely ending during the weekend before Walmarts New Years sales begin. The reason for all the great deals is that it’s the end of the year and Walmart needs to get rid of a lot of their inventory to make room for 2013 sales items. That’s why you end up seeing such large price cuts on high ticket items, like electronics. Look for the price cut on iPhones and iPad 3s. Also, look for other deals on tablets and laptops, as well as some really good after Christmas 2012 deals on HDTVs.

Walmart’s prices are not only competitive, but in most cases they tend to be lower than any other stores, either online or offline. Unfortunately there are no Walmart After Christmas 2012 coupons anywhere. So don’t bother looking, Walmart does not accept any online coupons. There will be Free Shipping offers though. You can find all the deals online at the Walmart After Christmas Sale.

Just Sold My Old Xbox 360 Should I Buy A New Slim Bundle?

Mocho22

How long should it take for the xbox 360 slim to turn into the old thing of the past. I hear 2013-2016 will release some or all new consoles by major companies. By that time I think video gaming would be majorly expensive for me considering I am a college student and I would like to save for a car or to dorm at college. Should buying a new xbox 360 slim 250GB bundle be in my interest, I mean it seems like a good deal but 300 dollars holy crap that's a ton of dough. I was considering buy a TV but most TV's seem to wanting to release 1080P and 3D technologies in the future so buying a 720P would be stupid. Saving up for something.

Is investing in today's cheaper technologies like xbox 360's, 720P/1080i HDTV's, Ect. worth it. I mean I will probably upgrade in the future.

Also wouldn't it just be best to wait it out, the wii ended out being a weak fad with bad graphics and good exclusives but mostly bad games, the ps3 at launch sold for 600 bucks I remember because I was so jealous of my rich friend when he got one on his B-day, the xbox360 ended up being junk until recently when they added in built in wi-fi and bigger harddrives.

I am started to see what technology does, and I don't like it. They hold out and gives us shit first then, give us more shit to buy. Apple my most hated company is the king of doing this for example.

Hopefully @ E3 which will not be open to the public sadly in June I will find out where the new xbox and ps4 stands. Also what will new consoles do? If It's 3D and we need new Tv's like Expensive 3D HDTV's needed to grab full potential I am going to laugh my ass off. 3D is not so revolutionary and as a guy already wearing glasses, it's not that cool. So maybe buying a xbox slim will be a good investment, also saving my money will be a good one as well. There is a lot of games I haven't played and the xbox 360 slims, old backwards compatibly wii and ps3 seem better than any new console to show it's face.

I have a PS3, a 32 inch hdtv, and a brand new comcast digital cable box. All three have HDMI slots. Do I need HDMI cables to get the best picture? How many would I need?
Do I connect HDMI cable from ps3 to tv, ps3 to cable box, cable to tv? Which ones?

Answer
One cable for each item you want to connect to the tv. The HDMI will provide the best picture quality and carries the video and audio signal. Keep in mind that the the size of your tv, you can not see the difference between 720P and 1080P, you need at less a 46" or larger. Using HDMI cable is also cheaper that using the component video cable and an optical for the audio. Hope this will help you out.

How to do get great picture quality on my samsung LCD 32 inch tv?

Matt Matt

Do you need a HD box to have great picture quality , my picture is blurry . What settings do you use for the tv. If you can help it would be great. leave your email so i get more help thank you

Answer
An hdtv needs hd programming to look the best that it can and it has to be hooked up with an hdmi cable.
Right now your looking at standard definition on a high definition tv. Once you get the hd programming you won't want to watch sd anymore. There is that much of a difference.

Can I use a digital tv converter box with basic cable?

Erika

I know this question has been asked a million times but my situation is slightly different, I think.
Well, I have an HDTV from 2013 and an old HD compatible TV monitor thing from 2004 or so. Basically, I get about 100 channels from the Basic Cable package that I have from Time Warner Cable on my HDTV and on the older TV, I get about 20 of those clear channels and the rest are either gone or all blurry. I think its something wrong with the older TV's tuner, or the lack thereof.
Anyway, I bought a digital TV converter box that has a QAM tuner and some other stuff, it also has an HDMI output which I like. I am wondering, can I use this converter box somehow with my basic cable? The basic cable is just my coax cable connected to the wall and to my TV. Can I somehow use the converter box in between these two to get me the missing channels? Or what do I need to purchase to do that? Thank you.

Answer
No, digital converter boxes are only for antenna signals. Cable box signals are different, which is why TV's have the option to switch between Cable/Antenna input via the coax.
One option you CAN do however...

Use the video output of the cable box and put it into the AV1 input, and then just put the digital converter box on the coax part so you can get channels from there. You still have to switch between the 2 sets of inputs though.

If your Time Warner is giving you blurry channels call your cable company, it may be a problem on their end.

How much do hdtv prices drop over a years time?

Hello, I'm planning on saving up for a Samsung LED HDTV. I'd like it to be 55 inches or more, I don't really care to have smart technology, and I'd love for it to be one of the ultra slim ones. It seems for 55 inches I'll be paying about 1100 dollars, for 60 inches its 1300 dollars, and any more than that, they automatically add the smart technology so its 2,500 or above. But I was just wondering how much a tv's price may drop in about a year from now. I've seen that 55 inch LED's used to be 2200 dollars but now they are 800-1200. How much do these prices usually drop in about a year with the new technology?

This is the tv I plan on buying:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+60%26%2334%3B+Class+-+LED+-+1080p+-+120Hz+-+HDTV/6847446.p?id=1218809261672&skuId=6847446

Answer
It's a tough thing to figure.

A particular model that you like may have a limited shelf-life. Manufacturers tend to make new models in order to keep prices up. Though the price of model 55-123LED (making this model number up) may be $1500 right now...conventional wisdom means that this model should be cheaper next year. The problem is that the manufacturer stops making this model and replaces it with the 55-321LED. Though it is completely identical to the old one...it is a 2013 model and therefore will still be worth the $1500 as a 'current' model.

The best time to purchase last years model is just before/just after the new ones hit the shelves. Stores will cut prices to make room for the new ones. If you wait to long though...you will find last years models hard to find.

A couple of tips for you:
A Good sale can happen anytime. It doesn't have to be Black Friday, Columbus Day, etc. Keep an eye on weekly ads from the major retailers in your area...as well as the online shops. With Price-Matching (which most major retailers offer)...anyone's sale could be a sale for your local store.

Don;t be afraid to ask for a discount. You have to believe that EVERYTHING is negotiable. You don;t have to be rude about it...just a simple "Is there any other way to save money on this TV?" I got 5% off my TV at Fry's Electronics simply by calling the manager over and asking if they're was any way he could save a few bucks (told him I was just a bit short on covering the full cost + taxes). Salesman/managers may know of coupons, etc that can save a few bucks.

Good luck! :)

Do you think it's too early for Nintendo to be revealing their new system at this year's E3?

Ethan the

Nintendo is supposed to reveal their new video game console at this year's E3. It is called, "Project Cafe" at this moment. Sony and Microsoft have stated that they won't release their new consoles until 2014. With this news, do you think Nintendo is revealing their new system too early or do you think this is the right time to reveal this new console?

Personally, I am not sure. I think the earlier this console is released, the more similar it will be to the Wii, which is a bad thing, OR (and probably not because this is Nintendo) the console will be way over-priced. However, releasing this console sometime later this year or next year will have Nintendo "beating-the-curb" against the competition, which is a good thing. Plus, Nintendo designs their systems to be profitable unlike Microsoft and Sony, whom actually loses money for every console that is purchased - they make it up in game sales. That's a plus too. As well, Nintendo does need an upgrade from the Wii - not really the features but the graphics. While the graphics are great, they are nothing compared to the PS3 and the X-Box 360, so I'm glad they are making an upgrade in that retrospect - they probably need it the most in that way. Personally, if the PS3 and the X-Box 360 will be released in 2014, I think Nintendo should wait until 2013 to release their system.

What do you think?
Tech Generation? More like Tech Era!

Answer
I have an Xbox 360 and a Wii and I'm a fan of both. I'm looking forward to this and hope to get it when it comes out.

Considering that the Wii came out in 2006, I think plenty of time has passed. It may well be time for some new consoles. Besides, with Sony and Microsoft now with their own motion controllers, I think Nintendo is the one that has to play catch-up now. When it comes to the Wii, I think people that dislike it do so mostly for three reasons:

1. No HD graphics. People want to get the most out of their gaming experience (and expensive HDTVs).
2. Their online play isn't as good as the other two consoles and they want to test their skills against people far away from them who may at least be on their level.
3. A lot of gamers are looking for more good third-party or mature games like Call of Duty, Starcraft, and Final Fantasy. Games like that tend to be pretty few and far-between on the Wii.

If all of this is going to change with the new console, I think most of them may shut their mouths, if they actually have enough spare cash to buy one, that is. If the 360 and PS3 were as expensive as they were when they first came out with all of the features they had, this new Nintendo console may be up in that price range. Better start saving.

What brand of HDTV has the best picture quality and a decent sound quality?

I want good picture quality and decent sound from the on board speakers. 32 inch to 36 inch. I don't need prices but that would help. I WILL be going to best buy to buy it, and they have a bunch of great deals going on for 32 inch HDTV's. I was thinking samsung. Any complaints?

Answer
Samsung led tv will be best picture in 32" but is also the most pricey.

Does the Samsung LED have more glare than the LCD?

Kristen S

Just purchased the LED because the picture quality looked a bit clearer in the store. However, we placed the tv directly across from a picture window and there is tons of glare. Would I have as much glare with the LCD? Maybe we'll just have to invest in some blinds or move the tv to another part of the room. The picture is perfect at night!

Answer
Samsung uses their "Clear Screen" technology in the A650, A750 A850 and now in the 2009 B650, B6000 & B7000 LCD products. Though these screens pass more light than any other LCD screen on the market, they also have the most reflections and glare of any LCD screen. In fact, these screens produce more reflections and glare than today's Panasonic plasma TVs with their Anti-Reflective filter. Control you light source(s) and this TV will reward your with a fanatistic picture.

Additional Details: Samsung uses the same LCD screen in the new LED series (6000, 7000 & 7100) as they use in the high-end LCD series (650, 750 & 850). Remember that the LED series is still a LCD HDTV, it just used LED back lighting instead of wide color gamut florescent tubes. There is not more glare on the LED series TVs, just the same amount of glare as on the LCD series.

Answer
you could get the HD cables for your xbox, but for a 32 inch tv it's not really necessary. You could just flip the switch on the audio/video cables to HD. That's what I do for my 32 inch and everything looks great.

I have the digital converter and bought a good HDTV antenna for about $60 and I still don't get more than a couple of channels. Could it be the TV itself?

Answer
> Could it be my TV is too old?

No. Only your converter box and antenna matter.

Your old TV only displays what your converter sends it. If it displays one channel OK, then it's not the problem.

>good HDTV antenna for about $60

How much you payed for the antenna has nothing to do with how good it is.

Things that do matter:

1.
Model of converter box. Some have better tuners than others. It's hard to beat the Zenith model for receiving poor quality signals.

2.
As part of the transition, quite a few digital stations are changing their transmitter frequencies. Most converter boxes (and new HDTVs for that matter) have to be "rescanned" to find these frequencies. Some converters even need a "double rescan".

3.
Some "so called" HDTV antennas can't even receive some of the frequencies used for DTV. You need to select an antenna based on your local conditions.

Are all your stations UHF or are there some VHF? Unlike analog broadcasts, you can't tell this by the channel number used for digital broadcasts; you have to look at a web site like tvfool.com and find the "analog equivalent" or "real" channel number.

4.
Indoor antennas are always a hit or miss sort of thing. Location can make a big difference. Probably the best place to start is with a 10' - 20' length of coax cable and see if you can find a "sweet spot" for TV reception. Look at the direction to your local TV transmitters and think about what the TV signals have to go through to reach your antenna.

What brand should I buy or what elements should I look for in a HD 40 - 50 inch television?

lazidazila

Wanting to purchase new television but there are many confusing elements to consider -- Is there a better brand? Is there a big difference in warranty? What size gives the best picture? What other elements do I need to look for to get the best picture and best deal?

Answer
You should work through a logical approach based on your needs and budget.

The first consideration is what viewing distance you plan to use. This helps define the screen size. The graph at the 1st link (also read the original article) helps define what size screen you should consider based on resolution of the display and the viewing distance. It's not exact since picture quality and eyesight varies, but it gives a good idea of approximate sizes.

For example, if you are considering a 720p HDTV (Green line), a 50" screen is best watched at 10' or a bit more. A 1080p HDTV (Red Line) the same size would be best watched at about 6.5'.

It may help to consider that at 8-10 ft, you won't see any difference between a 720p and 1080p HDTV smaller than about 50", so don't waste money on higher resolution if you can't benefit.

It's also worth considering that HDTV is a mix of 1080i and 720p ... there is no 1080p broadcast TV. The only consumer source for a 1080p picture (other than games) is Blu-ray or HD DVD ... and then you need a minimum 40" 1080p HDTV to benefit (and you need to sit at the right distance).

So, decide on the screen size and resolution first.

Now consider that picture quality is determined by four primary factors (in decreasing order of importance): contrast, colour saturation, colour accuracy and resolution. When considering specifc HDTVs keep these things in mind.

Assuming you are still considering a 40"-50" model, you can choose plasma or LCD or rear projection. Prices decrease in the same order.

Plasma is arguably the best picture, but in addition to being the most expensive, also needs the highest electrical power and turns out the most heat. They are not available under about 40".

LCD is available down to about 20" and up to over 60" but doesn't give quite as good a picture. It can suffer from blurring of fast movement ... so in addition to the 4 factors identified above, you also need to consider screen response time (aim for 8 ms).

Rear projection are less expensive but is falling out of favour because flatpanel LCDs are almost as cheap and don't have the size and limited viewing angle considerations of rear projectors.

Some people (including me) use a front projection and a screen for HDTV/movies as part of a home theater ... the best way to get a big picture ... but a specialized approach.

Consider connectivity .. you want as wide a range of inputs and outputs as you can ... although 2 or more HDMI inputs and optical audio output are the most important.

Style is personal, so I won't comment.

I'm not going to suggest a brand or model (others will do that), but I suggest you do some reading -- particularly reviews -- before going out to look at actual TVs. That way you will have decided on the size, resolution, type, etc and will be an informed consumer ready to focus on what is available and not as prone to "salesperson speak".

For a start see the links.

I hope this helps.

I've been playing the McDonald's monopoly thing and have almost collected all of one color and I want to know if you definitely win that prize.

Answer
Ah, the McDonald's Monopoly game... chasing after that one color stamp to win the big prize. If only it was that simple.

First of all, if you like McDonald's and you are happy about winning a food prize, its ok to play. Here's how it breaks down:•Medium Fries ($1.75) – Odds 1 in 9, or 11.1% chance you win.
• Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese ($3.60) – Odds 1 in 44, or 2.3% chance you win.
• Small McCafe or Smoothie ($2.40) – Odds 1 in 44, or 2.3% chance you win.
• McFlurry ($2.55) – Odds 1 in 44, or 2.3% chance you win.
• Breakfast Sandwich ($2.65) — Odds 1 in 22, or 4.6% chance you win

The other instant prizes (winning a DVD rental from a Red Box) to headphones are tougher. The DVD is 1 in 101 and the odds go up from there.

Now for the challenge - getting the properties. The truth is that whatever property group you need, one space is much, much, much more difficult to get than the others. Take the Red group (Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky) which gives you one of 40 plane tickets - the odds of getting Indiana or Illinois are around 1 in 10. The odds of getting Kentucky Ave., however, is 1 in 15 million.

Here is a list of the odds for all of the properties (plus the toughest one of each set to obtain):
BROWN: Mediterranean Ave, odds 1 in 30 million wins $1,000.
• LIGHT BLUE: Vermont Ave, odds 1 in 40 million, wins $5,000.
• PINK: Virginia Ave, odds 1 in 200 million, wins $10,000
• ORANGE: Tennessee Ave, odds 1 in 602 million, wins Super Bowl tickets.
• RED: Kentucky Ave, odds 1 in 15 million, wins one of 40 plane tickets for two.
• YELLOW: Ventnor Ave, odds 1 in 300 million, wins $20,000
• GREEN: Pennsylvania Ave, odds 1 in 40 million, wins one of 15 Fiat cars.
• BLUE: Boardwalk, 1 in 602 million, wins $1,000,000 in $50,000 annual payments.
• RAILROADS: Short Line railroad, 1 in 150 million, wins a year's supply of gas.

Do you see the challenge? It's not getting two of the three properties, it's getting the extremely scarce third one.

Here, btw, are the odds for winning the non-food prizes:
40 point MyCoke Reward (or medium Coke) - 1 in 151
$5 McDonald's Arch card - 1 in 21,518
EA Sports $10 promo code - 1 in 161
$10 Shell Gift Card - 1 in 60,250
Hasbro Monopoly Board Game - 1 in 60,250
$25 Shell Gift Card - 1 in 86,071
Shutterfly 8x8 PhotoBook - 1 in 302
EA Sports Game - 1 in 35,441
$50 - 1 in 60,250
ur Beats Earphones - 1 in 4,061,000
$100 - 1 in 105,701
Panasonic Lumix TS20 Digital Still camera - 1 in 1,506,202
Beats by Dr. Dre Phil Speaker - 1 in 4,016,601
Headphones - 1 in 301,245,030
Panasonic Viera 50-inch Plasma HDTV - 1 in 10,401,541
$5,000 - 1 in 40,166,041
EA Sports NFL Game Experience - 1 in 10,041,541
Beaches Resorts Vacation - 4,634,539
Ace Hardware $7,500 Home Fix-Up - 1 in 31,710,004
NFL Pro Bowl Experience - 30,124,503
2013 Fiat 500 Hatchback - 1 in 60,249,006
2013 Fiat 500 Cabrio - 1 in 60,249,006
$20,000 - 1 in 200,830,020
$100,000 - 1 in 301,245,030

So the morale of the story is if you want to win Medium Fries, you have a good chance of going away happy; otherwise, don't count on anything else.
