i am planning to buy a 32 inch led tv for my new home.
My priorities are :
full hd led tv (1920x1080p)
Decent motion clarity index
sharp and good quality pictures ofcourse.....
smart tv (optional)
stylish with a slim frame

went to a local store he inclined me towards lg32ls series i.e lg 32ls4600 and 32ls5700
Panasonic TH-L32E5D0
sony bravia 32 ex550

i personally like lg 32ls5700
which one should i consider.....
any other options.....

First of all, my recommendation would be too mention your budget range to get the best opinions possible. Now looking at the factors you have listed, the 32LS5700 would be a good choice.

However, if you have a flexible budget then I would suggest you to look at the 32LM6200 as well. The TV is a full HD LED TV with theater-like passive 3D and easy to use Smart TV functions. That is the entry level 3D TV from the 2012 line up (the LM in the model number is the 2012 designation, LA is the 2013 lineup).

Overall - that series is considered to be a very decent TV. For that particular model...since it is the entry level...you will have somewhat less features than the higher up in the series (LM6200, LM6700, LM7600, LM8600, LM9600)...but overall it's not much different. This particular one does not have the Smart Features of the LM6200 and up...and it also doesn't have as good of processors as the LM7600 and up, but it should be decent enough for normal use.

As far as 3D and glasses are concerned. These TV's use passive 3D...meaning that (and this is in laymans terms) the picture is filtered in a way that when the glasses are put on...the left eye sees one picture and the right eye sees another...and your brain makes it 3D. Without glasses on...it will just look like an extremely out of focus picture.

As far as cons for this unit...there are 2:

1st (and this applies to a LOT of manufacturers and not just LG).
The 120Hz "Tru Motion Rate" is not the same thing as a 120Hz refresh rate. So - though it sort-of performs like a 120Hz TV...it really is a 60Hz panel. You will find this to be the case in most of the lesser expensive models from all manufacturers.

2nd:
Given that this is a left-over 2012 model...you are already starting out with 1 year old technology. Not saying that it's not good technology...but that there is already a newer model and any 2012 models are simply left-overs that didnt sell. You should expect to see a significant savings from the 2013 models. It's hard to price-compare an overstock model...since the major retailers who would normally carry these have already replaced them with 2013 models...so you can;t always rely on a quick google shopping search...as it's likely to come up with few results.

Overall though...$800 for a 55" 3D TV is not bad...so you certainly aren;t getting hosed at that price...but you just have to realize that it's marked down because it is in fact a 1 - 2 year old tv...even though its new.

I am getting around 200 in back taxes. and I am trying to decide on what I should spend it on. Theres only one thing I NEED but the other things I WANT.

Since you have a bad i'd say buy a new TV. There are some cheap ones for around 200-300 dollars. There about 32-37 inches i think. Don't buy a PS3 just yet because the PS4 is coming this Holiday 2013. I'm pretty sure that Sony will drop the price of PS3 if you still want it. On black Friday Sony comes with bundles that much cheaper than now so don't get PS3 now. Considering that HDTVs are really cheap now you can buy that now. For HD PVR you will not need that because most games now have a theater mode where you can save that gameplay, use a usb flash drive to transfer the gameplay to your computer then upload.

Why did my new TV stop getting free channels? It says low-signal now but I had many HD and SD channels before?

Before Oct. 2nd, 2013, I received several HD and SD channels by connecting my cable. I have comcast internet but no tv service.

Today, all I get is the music channels above 90.

I was under the impression that over-the-air channels are available for free, is this not the case?

Did the digital TV tuner stop working?

Is this part of the FCC/Government shutdown?

You have a fundamental misunderstanding. "Over-the-air" means you receive it with an antenna, from the TV station's transmitting antenna in your area. Yes, that is free, but you only get it with an antenna, not from your cable outlet.

In the U.S..at least, there is nothing free on cable service--it's all provided by private companies, and they have to get paid via customer subscriptions.

What you were seeing on the cable was Comcast's "no-box" channels, receivable without one of their set top boxes. Those were all standard-def analog plus some HD channels. You saw those HD channels because your TV has an optional QAM tuner.

You had continuity on the cable to your home as an Internet subscriber, which got you those no-box channels as a bonus, so they weren't free. You can't see them now because Comcast and all cable companies are rapidly migrating their analog channels to their digital packages that require some type of box. When it's done, as it apparently was in your area on October 2nd, there are no TV channels left on the cable that are receivable without a box. It was done in my area over a year ago.

So, if you want TV from Comcast, you'll have to upgrade your subscription and get a box.

How can I connect my laptop to my flat screen?

The tv is a Samsung 2013 model and the laptop is about three years old.

The tv has these outlets: red white yellow cable group, HDMI and USB.

The laptop has USB, and VGA input.

I'd like to use my laptop to stream movies on my tv. Can this be done? With a cable? With a wireless device? Please help, I need to know desperately and no one knows that I've talked to. I am positive that these are the only inputs on these devices.

You have a new TV that has HD, which is why it has the HDMI adapter, that allows new laptops with HDMI output to connect and watch videos on their laptops on the HDTV.

Being 3 years old, I don't think your laptop has and HDMI port, but you can check. If it has that's the better choice and get a HDMI cable to fit that. Some computer experts say that the graphical quality of video games has reached a plateau?

Q. e.g., look how good the graphics are for a game like Crysis 2. These are rendered on hardware that was nearly outdated in 2005. You could imagine the potential of similar hardware in 2011. Or would it even make a difference?

What will make the next generation of gaming distinctive from the current?

In the past, the answer to this question was easy: GRAPHICS.

PC graphics can continue to march forward with ever more impressive hardware optimizations, higher resolutions, better physics, etc. However consoles are going to have a much tougher time of it. Sure with this generation we saw the jump to HD, or at least 720p@30fps. However the next batch of consoles should have no problem with 1080p@60fps which is the maximum any HDTV is capable of producing. Even 3D won't be a problem for these consoles - if they decide to support it.

Really the only direction left is better physics, and better textures. However these are going to seem more like minor bumps vs. the huge leaps we've been used to. It might also mean consoles will come out less frequently - no need to upgrade as frequently.

The 360, for instance, will turn 7 later this year and while Microsoft is working on a new console we probably won't see it on shelves until 2013 at the earliest - nearly 9 years after the 360 came out.

What will come after the Xbox360, Wii, PS3?

I only own a regular Xbox, and am planning to buy a new console.

My question is this: Am I too late in buying gaming console? Should I wait until something else comes out? WILL something come out in the near future?

Nobody knows what the next generation will look like or when it will be released. Anyone who says they know is a big fat LIAR cause they haven't even been designed.

In fact, the technology doesn't even exist yet to make them. Look at the number of cores in xbox360 and ps3: 3 and 8. Each on a 3.2ghz clock cycle. The last couple years have seen the death of Moore's law, which predicted the number of transistors on an IC would double every 18 months. They can't do it anymore because there's a heat barrier, so they had to resort to making multiple cores and pretending it was one "chip." It is hard to make software for and generates even more total heat than it would if they had just stuck with single core without making it any faster. But they can't do that, because the industry expects Moore-compliant products.

Look at any pc on the market today, are there any cpu's clocked faster than 4 ghz yet? No, and they don't even sell them that fast, you have to overclock them. Every new pc is at least a dual nowadays, up to 4 and it looks like they'll be going 8 soon. About to finally catch up with the ps3 except their multithreading still isn't as advanced as the Cell's is, or as good for running 3d game engines either.

So what will they make a ps4 out of? A new Cell with 16 cores? Don't bet on developers lining up to make games for that. It would also overheat like crazy. Circuit width tech is down to 45nm now, but it took three years, since the original ps3's on 90nm. That's not a very fast increase, it would never make a 16-core console realistic. Likewise if Microsoft wanted to take xbox to the next level they'd have to release some kind of 8-core goliath, it would make the red ring of death look like an ice cream social at the south pole. The tech is not there; there is no design. Not even a concept.

Now, the Wii can and probably will upgrade, but that's not gonna make it the first of the next generation. It will make it the last of the current generation, just as Wii is the last of the last generation. The only next gen part of Wii is the controller, and that is an accessory. The console is a 700mhz single-core putz. It is no more powerful than your original xbox. It can't output HD, it has no web browser, it is limited in a zillion ways. If they redesign it to have a dual-core at the standard 2 to 3ghz, then it will outperform the old wii by leaps and bounds. But it will only be a current-gen console. I don't expect them to upgrade the cpu though, only the graphics chip to make it HD capable. Because Nintendo has long feared the US digital transition when suddenly zillions of people will have new HDTV's and realize standard def really kind of sucks.

The console that will last the longest is the ps3, because it has the most advanced cpu and also the best gpu of the bunch. (400gflops compared to 240gflops for xbox's gpu). They're wasting their time on motion sensing right now, which the ps3 has done since it was released and also with the playstation eye, and xbox knows it can't make a better console yet either so it's trying to get your grandmother to play too. Motion sensing control is a joke.

There will not be any real current gen consoles released before the year 2013. Only portables.

Hi I have 2 Vizio HDTV. One is an LED and it is a 120 HZ and it is a 47 inch and the other is an LCD 47 inch one and also 120 hz. Now I am gonna give you a great example. You know for anyone who watches NBC Sunday Night Football and they go to the replay and the NBC Logo comes up to show the replay and after they show the replay the NBC Logs comes up again to go back to Live TV, well this is a great example because I notice somewhat of a lag when that happens and I see like a ghosting effect I guess and I also notice the pixels when that happens. It happens on other channels too but I notice it more on NBC Sunday Night Football. I have HD Directv with HDMI cable. So that isn't the problem. It is crazy because the other night I also watched the game on NFL Game Rewind app on the IPAD MINI and I didn't notice any lag whatsoever during the game. Is this lag or ghosting or whatever you want to call it caused by the response time of the TV or is it caused by the Refresh rate of the TV. I mean both of my Vizio TV's are doing the same thing and I even have a 3rd Sony 60 hz tv and it does it on that as well. So my questions are as follows:

1)Is the Lag caused by the Response Time or the Refresh Rate or what exactly?

2)Why is it on the IPAD Mini I didn't notice the lag?

3)I want the images to be crisp without any lag or ghosting or anything like that. What specifications on the TV should I look for?

4)For a 2013 say tv between a 30 to 39 inch what exact tv model do I look at to not see any lag etc?

5)How about a 40 to 50 inch TV which model should I look at?

6)Do I buy instead a monitor that is like 27 inch or 32 inch with an hdmi with a response time of say 1 ms. Please let me know.

For the Panasonic Plasma I should get a 1080P right rather than a 720P. The only problem that I have with Plasmas is that the picture is way too dim compared to the LED or LCD TV and I like a picture that is very bright. Please help. Thanks.

It's just a lag based on the distance of the TV and box from the satellite and just the broadcast in general. One of my family members had the same issue they have a 20 inch LED tv in their bedroom and a 32 inch LED tv in there living room. You can hear the TV's echo each other when on the same channel. Next the reason you didn't notice any lag on the iPad Mini is because it wasn't a live stream of it, it was a replay of what happened. So it's not looking for the live feed of the game over the internet, it's downloading it to the iPad's temporary memory just so it can play it through. This really isn't the TV at all VIZIO TV's are great options. This goes back to just DirecTV's ability to get the live video to the satellites and then to TV's across the US mainly. The only option would be to get a 240 Hz or 480 Hz HDTV but I really don't recommend that because those are mainly LCD TV's and LCD is probably the last option you want for a TV. LED is the best quality for a TV and LCD is better for a computer screen image. Overall for TV screen sizes you asked. The Best options are Samsung with there Smart HDTV's, Sharp's new IGZO display HDTV's, then Samsung is always reliable choice for HDTV's

HDMI poor quality with HDTV?

I'm using a Asus EAH 4870 graphic card connected to LG 32" Full HD TV with a DVI to HDMI connector.
The problem is my HDMI display is horrible. The display is blurry and even analog output is clearer then HDMI. I'd tried installing the latest driver for VGA but no avail. My current resolution is 1920 x 1080. Please advice what should i do.
My TV native resolution is 1920 x 1080p. I'd tried to switch to that resolution but still no go.

I've also noticed poor HDMI video quality with Asus cards.

I bought an Asus EAH3450 video card for use in my HTPC, and when i hooked it up to my big-screen 1080p LCD HDTV (1920x1080 native) using a DVI-to-HDMI cable, it causes my TV to underscan the image (shrink the image down so there is a black border all the way around the edge of the screen). Underscan squishes the pixels and it looks blurry. No matter what I do, I can't get it to do 1:1 pixel mapping with my HDTV over the digital connection. When I connect the EAH3450 via analog VGA, it can do 1:1 pixel mapping but the HDTV sometimes syncs the signal wrong and it's off-center.

I have since swapped that Asus EAH3450 for a Sapphire HD4650 and I was able to get 1:1 pixel-mapping right out of the box using DVI-to-HDMI. I'm never buying Asus video cards ever again.

However, you didn't specify what size range you are looking for. This is an important factor when searching for TV's. Plasma TV's don't come in sizes smaller then 42", so if you're looking for something 40" or less...LCD is your only option! However, if you are looking for something 42" or larger, i highly recommend going with a Panasonic Plasma TV. Panasonic is the best performing and most reliable brand of HDTV i've ever seen!

Questions about Panasonic GT50 THX Cinema picture mode?

I purchased a 50" GT50 HDTV a few days ago and I absolutely LOVE it! The picture is amazing. I was playing around with the picture modes though and i noticed one called "THX Cinema". How is this different from the regular "Cinema" mode? When i switch between them all that's obvious is that the picture looks a bit smaller but more complete (like it zooms out a tiny bit). Of course I'm completely ignorant to all this technical stuff so what do I know. Can anyone explain this to me? I the THX mode optimal for movies and such?

For a given manufacturerâs compliant display, THX [picture] modes are intended to provide a set of simple preset picture settings that conform to THXâs carefully chosen criteria for video image quality. Ideally the preset THX picture settings should provide the most natural or accurate video image quality short of a professional video display âcalibration.â In reality, for the more demanding perfectionist it is relatively easy to surpass the image quality performance offered by the preset THX picture modes on the 2012 Panasonic plasma display panels by using the Custom picture mode along with proper display calibration software and hardware.

A quick explanation of the Samsung serial numbers:

Part 1, the display technology: UN = LED, LN = LCD, PN = plasma
Part 2, the size: easy to recognize, it's 46-inch
Part 3, the series: D6000, ES8000, C7000, loads of variations. The C series are from 2010, D is from 2011, E(S) is from 2012. The number indicates the specs/features.

A few examples: UN46Cxxxx is a 46-inch LED screen from 2010, a PN55Dxxxx is a 55-inch plasma from 2011. A UN55D7000 has the same features as a UN46D7000, just a bigger screen.

Over the last years, image quality improved but not as fast as new fancy features were added. If you don't need gesture control, internet access, smart TV features and apps, a HDTV from 2010 would be perfectly fine, the irony is that most of them are more expensive now that the new 2012 ones. The UN46C6500 for example costs about $1.4k, the UN46ES6500 slightly more than $1k.

Bottom line: My recommendation would be the UN46EH6000. No 3D, no unneeded features, but 240Hz refresh rate, decent image quality, 2x HDMI, 1x USB, Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby Pulse, barely more than $800 for a perfect "basic" HDTV. Sick sound? All modern flatscreen HDTVs have built-in 10-20 watt speakers. That's far from perfect, no matter what manufacturer you look at, these thin little speakers can't do wonders. Some sort of home theatre kit is definitely recommended for all audiophiles.

If the box has component cable (red, green, and blue), you can use that to improve the quality of the image. If that's not available, using S-video will be your second best bet to improve the quality.

If it's fuzzy or distorted like not very clear then see if hooking up component or hdmi cables to it clears it up otherwise it's the tv. If you watch regular tv on hdtv it's worse quality than regular tv because it's showing weakness when it's meant for high quality.

Connecting a MacBook Pro to HDTV, NO Sound?

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro that I'm trying to connect to my LG HDTV via Mini Display Port to HDMI. The picture comes across fine, but the sound does not. I went into settings and under audio I selected my tv connected via HDMI. However, when I go to play music on my laptop, no sound goes through to to the TV. What's up with this?

Which of these is better. Im going to use it mostly for gaming and tv, with the occasional movie. 3D would be cool but its not that important. I will be sitting far enough away that 1080p wont really matter. I was looking at them at best buy and the plasma looked a little dark but it was pretty bright in the store. Also, if you have another TV to recommend let me know.

The Song LCD. Plasma has lots of issues, like leaving a trail when something or someone moves on the Tv, which is typically called "ghosting". Also Plasma screens sometimes "burnout". Though, Plasma has a better color spectrum. But the best type is an LED.
Also, there are only so many games you can play in 3D and you have to buy glasses which I've seen for an extra $200.

How to get a better picture quality on a lcd hdtv?

I recently bought a 1080p lcd hdtv, right now im watching tv just through basic cable without a cable box or anything else. But when im watching tv i dont feel the picture quality is very good, it looks somewhat blurry and i just dont feel like im getting what im suppose to. I wasnt really expecting that though it being an HD ready tv and putting out 1080p. Would getting an HD cable box from my cable provider help?

The picture looks bad because you are looking at standard-definition channels, not HD channels.

HDTVs usually make standard-def channels look WORSE, not better!

So what you need to do is get some HD channels.

To do that with cable, you probably have to upgrade your cable account to pay extra for HD and get an HD cable box. But before you do that, you could try without a box, and have your TV scan for new channels (tell it you have digital cable when you start the scan), and it may pick up a few channels (mostly major networks) in HD. If you are happy with just those in HD, you might not need to pay extra for HD.

We got a Samsung 32" HDTV (New Version) but we only have Basic Cable Channals right now (Not HD or Digital) but the channels are coming out blurry or a bit out of picture. Will this change when we get HD and Digital and what do we need to improve the picture or get when we get digital and HD? Also are the Digital all in HD or is it only the HD listed ones? Are digital Channels going to come out a lot better than Basic? Do we need a HDMI cable? DO we need a HD Box and does it convert?

Your picture quality will change for the better when you get HD.

When you get HD you will need to connect the set top box to the TV with either Component or HDMI cable. Component uses the 3 connectors (that are usually marked with red, green, and blue). HDMI is a single cable.

Digital broadcast does not mean HD. The cable company transmit in digital so they can give you more features and/or channels. You will need a set top box that will send HD format to your TV.

You don't necessarily need an HDMI cable to view HD. Component cables can carry an HD signal too up to 1080i which is the highest that the cable company will broadcast. HDMI can carry 1080p which some HD DVD players or HD Video Game Consoles can produce.

Having an HD box is a vast improvement over the standard box, especially if you have a bigger screen.

In the meantime, until you get your HD box, there are a couple minor adjustments you can make to your TV setup. The first is to switch cables if you need to and the second is to check the calibration of your TV.

Switch to component cables if your box has component output. If your box doesn't have component output, check to see if you have S-video outputs. S-video is better than the one yellow RCA looking connector that is called composite. The worst setup you can have is to connect the TV to the box with a coax cable. Step up to either S-video or the 3-signal component (better).

Next, slip in a video test pattern disk. You probably already have one and don't know it. Any DVD with the THX logo on it will have the video test patterns (e.g. Disney's Ice Age 2). Go into the setup menu and choose "THX optimizer". You want to check your set for contrast, brightness, and color. The brightness and contrast are interactive. Think of the intensity of each pixel on your TV as a number from 1-10. If the contrast and brightness is off, you many not get the full range of intensity your set is capable of. The contrast changes the overall range and the brightness offsets it. For example, if your contrast is set too low to say, in this example an 8, you may only be able to display 8/10 of the possible intensities. Setting the brightness up may allow you to see the intensities from 3 to 10 or setting the brightness too low will allow you to see intensities from 1 to 8.

The video test pattern of THX Optimizer shows a white rectangle within a black background. Inside the white rectangle are 8 separate squares of different shades of white. The contrast should be as high as possible while still being able see the 8 separate squares. The contrast is interactive with brightness. The brightness test pattern has 10 shades as well and if the brightness is correct only 7 should be visible, with the 7th just barely visible. You'll have to go back and forth between the two adjustments and narrow in on the correct setting. You'll know you are done when you don't have to tweak either one. Then you're off to do the color. Your set may have a color temperature setting which should be on low or 6500K. Cyan and Magenta should look correct when the color is set right. If you have the $2 filter from the THX website they will look the same when you look through the paper filter glasses (because on a properly setup display both cyan and magenta contain the same amount of blue).

The only compicated part is that each input type (UHF, composite, S-video, Component, and HDMI) have their own unique calibrations. If you use the disk with test patterns, just note what you set it to and change all the other inputs to be similar and check them out - hopefully they'll be the same. On top of that, some sets use different unique calibrations for each format (480i, 720p, 1080i, etc.)

The resolution is set by the video, the TV is just reporting what it is getting. So, if it says 480, then your device is feeding it SD video.

Check your game and make sure it's set to output 720p or 1080i. Also, you will need to connect the game to the TV with something that can support HD like a HDMI or component cables.

Is there a quality difference between length of HDMI cables?

They say that a longer distance between components means that more cable is required to make the connections, and over the distance of the cable, the HDMI signal will therefore degrade and also the picture and sound quality. Signal degradation won't be a problem unless you're talking about VERY long cables - usually dozens of feet in length.

In addition, HDMI cables carry a digital signal so it either works perfectly...or it won't work at all. You won't get any difference between a 1M and 3M cable.

But if I buy a home theatre with hdmi and connect it to the tv through component, will there be much of a difference if it where the hdmi version? HDMI is a single cable (looks like a giant USB cable) that will transmit both Hi-def video content up to 1080p and true surround sound. Component HD cables transmit video up to 1080i, so you won;t notice much of a difference in video quality (none if your tv can't display 1080p). With component HD, you will need to decide on an audio connection.

Your PS3 has an hdmi out so that would solve all your problems if your receiver has an HDMI INPUT. You plug the ps3 into the receiver via HDMI, plug the receiver to the tv using component and you should be good to go.

Other audio options include Digital Optical or plain old RCA(white/red) cables.

Btw, those RCA cables SHOULD work on just about any setup...it will only be stereo but it should work. Are you using that with your current setup?

The most noticeable artifacts are those that cause jagged edges or smears but just about any defect due to the encoding and decoding process an / or display anomalies could qualify.

A few years ago, it was the Pioneer Kuro. Now, it is the Sharp Elite series.

Note that this is the ultra high-end. You will get a very good quality from each top brands also:
Sony = HX929
Samsung = D8000
Panasonic = VT30
LG = LW9800 (but the reviews are mixed)

If you want to go really big (> 70"), you have not a lot of other choices than Sharp though. The rest of the manufacturers stops at 65" in 2011.


(And if you want to wait, new 2012 models will be out in about 1-2 months)

HDMI will help out the graphics, but not your problem. then You hold up a phone and video tape, the picture doesn't look well, because the pixels in the phone capture the pixels on your tv at a high rate.

I'm looking to purchase an HDTV and was wondering the difference between the two types. Is it worth is to spend the extra money for LED? How much better is the performance of an LED?

LED and LCD HDTVs are actually both LCD. The only difference is when the HDTV says it's LED, it's actually referring to the type of backlighting. LEDs use light emitting diodes which turn on and off extremely fast. This helps to make dynamic contrast possible (black scenes are darker, white scenes are brighter). LCDs use fluorescent tubes that are not so fast. Performance wise, picture quality varies greatly between manufacturers in regards to both technology. Before making a purchase, do your homework and read up on specs and reviews on websites like http://www.cnet.com and http://www.specsandreviews.com

I assume u have cable and not satellite? my basic cable channel is 50 dollars a mth with only 60 channels.With only 2 or 3 HD channels. Now listen closely. You can ask your dad to go with Dishnetwork.com. Why?

I want an HDTV around 26 or 27 inches, and i was told that Samsung makes the best quality HDTV. What do you guys think without going over a budget of 700 dollars.?

Samsung - WRONG! It has a good picture, granted, but it doesn't even come close to the best in reliability. For the best, go Sony! But I don't think you'll be able to meet your budget.

If you can go $749, look at the Panasonic HDTV LCD TC-26LX70 on sale at Circuit City - good price and great LCD. If you have to keep it under $700, go Toshiba for the best and most reliable LCD in that price! Stay away from the "no-names" like Vizio, Olevia, Ilo, Insignia, and Maxent, as well as RCA, Philips/Magnavox, and Polaroid.

How come HDTVs (mainly LCDs) in stores have bad pictures?

Q. I was checking some HDTVs out the other day and the pictures look cloudy. It's weird because I have an emachines computer which in some people's opinion is a cheap computer brand and when I watch HD stuff on YouTube or wherever it looks amazing, yet here are these Sonys, Samsungs, Pannys and LGs with terrible pictures. How is it that my cheap little computer can generate a better HD picture than these high quality HDTVs?

It could actually be psychological thing, maybe your really used to seeing what you do on your monitor, so your brain is having a hard time adjusting to what is "true HD". but another thing is. Youtube is NOT by far anything close to true HD 1080p. Youtube "HD" is only 720p resolution. Another thing is that a lot of times the TV's at let's say Best Buy and store's like that, the TVs are not properly adjusted. The best brand's for TV's for quality and best image quality are Sony, SAMSUNG, and Sharp. If your shopping for a new HDTV, next time you go there ask a store employee to show you the basic's of HDTV's.

That is the entry level 3D TV from the 2012 line up (the LM in the model number is the 2012 designation, LA is the 2013 lineup).

Overall - that series is considered to be a very decent TV. For that particular model...since it is the entry level...you will have somewhat less features than the higher up in the series (LM6200, LM6700, LM7600, LM8600, LM9600)...but overall it's not much different. This particular one does not have the Smart Features of the LM6200 and up...and it also doesn't have as good of processors as the LM7600 and up, but it should be decent enough for normal use.

As far as 3D and glasses are concerned. These TV's use passive 3D...meaning that (and this is in laymans terms) the picture is filtered in a way that when the glasses are put on...the left eye sees one picture and the right eye sees another...and your brain makes it 3D. Without glasses on...it will just look like an extremely out of focus picture.

As far as cons for this unit...there are 2:

1st (and this applies to a LOT of manufacturers and not just LG).
The 120Hz "Tru Motion Rate" is not the same thing as a 120Hz refresh rate. So - though it sort-of performs like a 120Hz TV...it really is a 60Hz panel. You will find this to be the case in most of the lesser expensive models from all manufacturers.

2nd:
Given that this is a left-over 2012 model...you are already starting out with 1 year old technology. Not saying that it's not good technology...but that there is already a newer model and any 2012 models are simply left-overs that didnt sell. You should expect to see a significant savings from the 2013 models. It's hard to price-compare an overstock model...since the major retailers who would normally carry these have already replaced them with 2013 models...so you can;t always rely on a quick google shopping search...as it's likely to come up with few results.

Overall though...$800 for a 55" 3D TV is not bad...so you certainly aren;t getting hosed at that price...but you just have to realize that it's marked down because it is in fact a 1 - 2 year old tv...even though its new.

Hey guys,

I want to buy a TV in the near future but I have no clue which one... I want the TV for gaming (Xbox) and movies mainly... So it has to be Full HD, low input lag, great contrast and refresh rate. I don't really care about the Smart TV capabilities.

But I really have no clue which one should I pick... Can I have your opinions? Can you recommend me specific type or at least a brand? I would be glad if the pricepoint would not exceed 1000eur/850gpb/1300usd
