Do you think this TV will go on sale close to x-mas or after?

go-go

I know its already on sale but do you think it will go down in price even more?

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/lg-electronics-lg-60-1080p-600hz-plasma-hdtv-60pk550-60pk550/10140862.aspx?path=564b0d578a1622e76c0513492b8ddc31en02

Answer
Yes. more " great " sales after new year 2011.
keep in mind. TV maker will " clear " out old stock - that only for old models.
you will get much lower prices for big screen 720P models and 1080P 60 HZ refresh rate models . because Mose of TV maker discontinue such range and go for 1080P with 120 HZ models.
also 26 inc 720P / 32 inc 720P / 37 inc 720P models. all the Japan TV maker switch to 26 / 32 / 37 inc for only 1080P . you will never get an Sony / Sharp / Panasonic / Toshiba 26/32/37 inc LCD TV in 720P any more after 2011. since this happened 2 year ago in Japan market.
Plasma with 720P also going to clear stock as LG / Samsung / Panasonic discontinue 720P PDP ( Plasma display panel ) .
if you " don't mind " old models also low specifications out of date TV. you get BIG deal after new year. first week of Jan-2011.
but if you only looking for up to date models / specifications , could be just a litter or no difference in prices !
beware of quality , those OFF BRAND / local brand / buyer brand clear as super low prices, subject to reliability.
**************
the above link LG 60 inc Plasma
do you know why sold as super low prices. ?
because is not really new Plasma technology as the Power consumption is super HIGH . 510W
compare to Panasonic new Plasma technology 58 inc 58PZ8000U only 196W.
any lower prices must be " good " reason behind.

Rio (2011)-|BRRip|- mkv

Size: 523576089 bytes (499.32 MiB), duration: 01:35:57, avg.bitrate: 728 kb/s
Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, stereo
Video: h264, 1280x528, 23.98 fps(r)
NOW....
what does it mean by avg.bitrate: 728 kb/s..what does it men by Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, stereo , what does it mean by23.98 fps(r),what does it mean by 1280x528 ..what is 1280 and what is 528 and from there how can i understand what is the pixel of the movie (like 420p,720p) movie ......plz help...

Answer
Always focus on the number after the x. Ex. 1920x1080 res. If the number before the x is more than twice as the number after the x, then the movie will be in 4:3 (square shape like non-hdtv shape).
And if the audio is Stereo that means it is for two speakers like a HDTV (two speakers), if it says bitstream or 5.1 it is surround sound audio.

As of today, 2-16-2012, what is the proverbial Ferarri of HDTVs?

Supply Sid

It's getting about time to upgrade. Now I have a finished basement which is a game/media room. The couch will be about 10 feet away from the TV so I'm thinking I can go 60 inches or more, EASY.

Answer
A few years ago, it was the Pioneer Kuro. Now, it is the Sharp Elite series.

Note that this is the ultra high-end. You will get a very good quality from each top brands also:
Sony = HX929
Samsung = D8000
Panasonic = VT30
LG = LW9800 (but the reviews are mixed)

If you want to go really big (> 70"), you have not a lot of other choices than Sharp though. The rest of the manufacturers stops at 65" in 2011.

(And if you want to wait, new 2012 models will be out in about 1-2 months)
[To AVDaddy: No, manufacturers just announced them at CES in January. Most of the models will be out in March-April, but some are only planned to released in fall]

Nitesh Bal

College friends are saying to change my LCD and instead of that, I should buy LED. What can be the solution dear?

Answer
Get plasma, it destroys LED/LCD in picture quality easily and are cheaper. You can get a GT25 or ST30 3d HD panasonic plasma at 42 inches for 1000 bucks and make your friends jealous as hell.

Look at Cnet's reviews Google best 3DTV or HDTV of 2011 and the top 5 are plasma's. Maybe 1 LED is in 6th place but its 3 grand.

Can a new 2011 blu ray DVD player with built in wi-fi function with a 10 year old big box TV that isn't HD?

Rob

My old multi-disc DVD player has died. I need to replace it but it seems most of the DVD players out are blu ray. At least the ones worth buying. I have my eye on a Samsung 5700 blu ray DVD player with built in wi fi. Now it seems that they work best with HDTVs but I know that is only if you plan on playing blu ray DVDs and you want the best picture quality from the disc. I stick with DVDs, I review films for a living and most of the DVDs I get are regular DVDs plus I really don't care about picture quality, as long as the image is clear. I want to know if the newer model blu ray DVD players will work with my 10 year old Samsung TV which is a big heavy box, not an HDTV. My friend who is somewhat knowledgeable about DVD players has said yes, I've read reviews where people with 20 year old TVs were able to stream the wi fi onto their TVs, but someone from Best Buy I'm positive didn't know much about DVD players said no modern blu ray player will be compatible with an older model TV. I need to have an HDTV. My TV still works fine and I can't afford an HDTV and a Blu Ray player at the same time but the player is essential for my work. Can you all please help me, let me know if a modern model blu ray player will work on my 10 year old non HDTV? If not, what is my next option? Thanks.

Answer
Check the blu ray disc player and your old tv and see what it offers for video and audio connections. If the blu ray disc player has the output for video and audio that can be used for your tv then it will work. Personally I would recommend a Panasonic player, they are the most reliable and trouble free player in the market. I have a first generation player from Panasonic model BD-10 which is over 4 years old and played over 300 blu ray disc movies without having one problem. They always have a player that is recommended each year by Home Theater Magazine. Hope this will help you out.

Who's number one when it comes to TV's...?

James

Answer
You can't go wrong with the VT30 Panasonic Viera plasma's, D8000 Samsung plasma's or Sharp Elite LCD's.

They were the top three (Sharp, Panny, Sammy) in the 2011 shoot-out held last month at Value Electronics in Scarsdale, NY.

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7-20118503-221/sharp-elite-wins-value-electronics-hdtv-shootout/

When you factor in price, the plasma's are the easy choice.

Which HDTV is Better?

Craig Mill

Sony - KDL40BX420 LCD (1080p, 60Hz) - $580
Samsung - PN43D490 Plasma (720p, 3D, 60Hz) - $540

Which of these is better. Im going to use it mostly for gaming and tv, with the occasional movie. 3D would be cool but its not that important. I will be sitting far enough away that 1080p wont really matter. I was looking at them at best buy and the plasma looked a little dark but it was pretty bright in the store. Also, if you have another TV to recommend let me know.
32" - 45"
$400 - $650 (maybe a little more depending on the tv)

Answer
The Song LCD. Plasma has lots of issues, like leaving a trail when something or someone moves on the Tv, which is typically called "ghosting". Also Plasma screens sometimes "burnout". Though, Plasma has a better color spectrum. But the best type is an LED.
Also, there are only so many games you can play in 3D and you have to buy glasses which I've seen for an extra $200.

Look up "squidoo best HDTVs of 2011" in google, and you'll find all the info you need.

I'm also looking at getting a new Tv, so I know a lot of good ones, but what's your exact price range. I know around $550 but is $580 the max? Also how many inches do you want? Add your price range and inch range and I'll add some recommendations.

Ok, so I'll just write the info for each tv. I would put the url since I'm still in the process of fixing my computer, so I have to use my iPod and PS3 to go on the internet.

1. Sharp- AQUOS Quattron 40" Class/ LED/ 1080p/ 120Hz/ HDTV (reg. $1,099.99 ON SALE $599.99.) (reviewed as a 4.8/5)

2. Panasonic- 32" Class/ LED/ 1080p/ 60Hz/ HDTV (reg. $699.99 ON SALE $549.99) (reviewed as a 5/5)

Samsung midrange 2011 LED TVs vs Panasonic midrange 2011 Plasma TVs ?

- - -[--[s

Answer
Panasonic, Plasma HDTVs have the lowest MTBF(mean time between failures). They also are cheaper when we're talking about 42"-46" screens and up vs. LCD screens in this size range.
Off the top of my head, they produce better black levels, color quality, and off-axis viewing.

Checkout this direct link to not just Panasonic plasmas, but also a handful or two of other makers, to eliminate bias towards just Panasonic's lineup of their plasmas.

you will get much lower prices for big screen 720P models and 1080P 60 HZ refresh rate models . because Mose of TV maker discontinue such range and go for 1080P with 120 HZ models.
also 26 inc 720P / 32 inc 720P / 37 inc 720P models. all the Japan TV maker switch to 26 / 32 / 37 inc for only 1080P . you will never get an Sony / Sharp / Panasonic / Toshiba 26/32/37 inc LCD TV in 720P any more after 2011. since this happened 2 year ago in Japan market.

Lcd 120hz vs Plasma 600hz?

best hdtv reviews 2011
 on ... CES 2011 Award - Best 3DTV & Best In Show - Panasonic | DIY Reviews
best hdtv reviews 2011 image

Joey B

I will play video games 100% or the time on one of these hdtvs. Should I go with a 720p 600hz plasma or a 1080p 120hz Lcd. Both tvs are made by the same company.

Answer
The above post is incorrect. The screen glare problem has not been solved. Plasma screens are the glossy type. When I went to best buy, i noticed severe reflections from all angles. There is even a video done by CNET on the VT30 plasma TV (last years panasonic flagship model and also the TV in my bedroom) on youtube where you can see significant reflections even in a darker room. Plasma TVs are best suited for rooms with controlled lighting. In those conditions the plasma TV will produce great PQ. Also plasma TVs consume the same amount of power as the older plasma models. You can verify this through many review sites such as FlatpanelsHD or CNET. They measure the total watts consumption per hour and have it down on a chart. If you are adamant on purchasing a plasma, then I would recommend the ST50 by Panasonic. It is their most inexpensive plasma TV and it has gotten great reviews.

Now I recommend to you a LED LCD TV for gaming. My reasons are : if you plan on gaming a long time, your TV will not overheat and burn-in issues are non-existent. (i have seen burn-ins on a panasonic vt30 after only 5 months--even with the screen wipe feature in use). Also 3D gaming is a big plus for me so the comfort of the glasses will become significant enough to where it will affect the type of TV you may purchase. You will be able to play during the day. LED LCD TVs are very bright. Most 2012 LED TVs however have a glossy screen as well. You will get some unwanted reflections. I highly recommend LG's LW series 3D LED TVs (2011 models). They have a matte screen for unparalleled brightness and since its 2012 now, should be priced even lower than its competition.

Looking for a new tv and was wondering whether Panasonic is a good brand. I was thinking about the Panasonic 42" Class Viera U Series 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV. At Kmart it's 500$. Is there a better tv similar to this that is better? Want 1080p and 120 Hz and near 42 inch.

Answer
panasonic is the BEST brand of tv you can buy,, it used to be pioneer kuro tv's they where the kings of tv's but they stopped making tv's for about 3 years now and panasonic bought over there technology,,

now panasonic produce the best tv's especially the plasma tv's they are brilliant,,

pioneer used to make plasma tv's when panasonic, sony, samsung lg etc etc was still making large box crt tv's thats how well advanced they where and when panasonic bought over the technology, panasonic tv's just keep winning awards,,

in the WHAT HI-FI sound & vision magazine 2011 tv awards panasonic won 5 awards out of 7 and 4 of those awards was for there plasma tv's the only other company to win awards was samsung , and WHAT HI_Fi have been doing reviews for tv's and other electrical items for over 25 years so they know a few things about tv's

Answer
A few years ago, it was the Pioneer Kuro. Now, it is the Sharp Elite series.

Note that this is the ultra high-end. You will get a very good quality from each top brands also:
Sony = HX929
Samsung = D8000
Panasonic = VT30

Connecting a MacBook Pro to HDTV, NO Sound?

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro that I'm trying to connect to my LG HDTV via Mini Display Port to HDMI. The picture comes across fine, but the sound does not. I went into settings and under audio I selected my tv connected via HDMI. However, when I go to play music on my laptop, no sound goes through to to the TV. What's up with this?
