How should I reduce screen glare and eye discomfort when using computer/TV?

Q. I spend almost all day on a computer then I sometimes play a few hours of xbox on a 37 inch hdtv. How should I reduce eye strain, glare, and other vision issues without changing computer/game use times?

(I wear glasses, my eyes are about -1.5, I often don't wear glasses when using a computer, but I almost always do while watching tv or playing video games.)

A. There are special computer glasses at drug stores that are supposed to take care of that.
Or you can just do what I do and put the screen brightness on low.

Is it advisable to use a 37+ inches TELEVISION as a monitor on a desktop computer?
Q. I am considering buy a high end desktop computer (probably apple Mac Pro) and i need to find a fitting Monitor with it!
the options are not many, and most of them are really expensive, for instance, Cinema Display from Apple (at 30 inches, anything less than 30 would be absurd with such a machine) costs 1500 euros and the a TV from Samsung at 37 inches (but same resolution) costs 700 euros!

could some one sum up some pros and cons for using a tv as a monitor?
thanks!

A. You can use an HDTV as a computer monitor but there are some downsides that can be annoying.

TV's normally have more dead pixels than monitors do.
TV's don't support the full range of resolutions that most monitors do.

You want to make sure that you use a 1080p tv which will give you 1920x1080 resolution in windows. If you use a 1080i or 720p tv your windows resolution will be 1360x768 which will make things appear very large on that size monitor.

hey does any1 know if there is a way to disable all channels on an hdtv?
Q. i want to get a 37 inch hdtv for my ps3 but i dont want any channels,is there a way to disable them?

A. Just dont hook up a cable, sat or antenna to the TV and it will not be able to pick up any channels.

Just leave the TV set to the component or HDMI input and you will not see any channels even if you DID hook up cable/sat/antenna.

(What kind of an idiot question is this? If you dont want to watch any TV broadcasts just dont try and watch them.)
